FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - Police have arrested a suspect in an overnight shootout in Federal Way that left one man dead and another seriously wounded.

Detectives identified a 20-year-old Auburn man as the shooter in the incident.

The suspect has a record, including pleading guilty to shooting a dog last year. He is being held in investigation of first-degree murder.

Federal Way police say just after 1 a.m. Friday, gunfire erupted in the parking lot at the Park at Dash Point Apartments, located at 317th and 50th Lane Southwest in Federal Way. Neighbors said they heard people arguing in Russian, shots fired and then cars screeching away from the lot.

When police arrived, they found a 25-year-old white male shot dead at the scene. A 22-year-old man shot had already been taken to Auburn General Hospital; he was soon rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with life-threatening gunshot wounds.

"Witnesses reported just following the shooting that a dark green or black Acura left the scene," said Cathy Shrock, Federal Way Police Department spokeswoman. A gun was also left at the parking lot.

Neighbors say the men involved in the shootout are a group of Russians who recently moved to the complex.

Neighbors say they heard several men argue in Russian, gunshots, then cars speeding away from the apartment complex in Federal Way.

"They're always out there at 2 o'clock in the morning, screaming, partying and always glaring at people when they go by " said Elizabeth Frederick, resident.

"I never saw them as threatening, but it's one of those feelings you get deep down that something's not right," said Kris White, resident.

Federal Way police are trying to determine the motive and identify the 15 or so people who were at the parking lot during the shooting. Police encourage anyone who has any information regarding this incident to contact them.
