What is Tisha B'Av and why is it an important date?

Tisha B'Av begins this evening, Saturday, Aug 2nd at sunset.

Tisha B'Av means the 9th day of Av, a month in the Jewish calendar.

It is a day of remembrance for several tragedies including the destruction of both Solomon's Temple and the Second Temple in Jerusalem.

Amazing that these events occurred during different years, but on the same day!

The Second Temple was standing and in use during the Life of Lord Jesus.

The Bible recounts many times when Jesus taught on these Temple grounds.

Today, the "Wailing Wall" is the only remaining structure from the Second Temple, and many still pray at this sacred site.
