So last night, Senate Democrats gave a press conference in which they variously denounced Republicans for refusing to act and, in an especially inapposite remark by Chuck Schumer, were said to be unable to tie their shoelaces. This morning the president said Republicans had wasted “precious daysâ€

I would think the debt ceiling should be lowered, if anything??

Who raised the debt ceiling?

Since 1980, the debt ceiling has been raised 39 times.
It was raised 17 times under Ronald Reagan,
four times under Bill Clinton and
seven times under George W. Bush.

Congress is currently in a contentious debate with the White House on whether to raise the ceiling by the Aug. 2 deadline, which would make the fourth raise under Obama.

The reason dem.keep voting down the rep.plan is they dont want to cut SS medicare or medicade,trying to save the working class.But reps.want to cut your benifits and not stop the tax breaks for the rich.Dems.dont want to cut benifits for the people and stop the tax breaks and loop holes for the rich,thats not a raise in taxes its to make them pay the tax they already have but reps.call it raising taxes but dont mind lowering your SS medicare or medicade you work for and paid out of your pay check.You cant lower the debt ceiling this is debts that has already been in play by the vote congress in years back that has already barrowed and has to be paid back.
