Mexican navy captures 12, seizes weapons and cash

The Mexican navy announced the capture of a dozen men and the seizure of a weapons cache and large amount of cash in operations conducted in four cities in Tamaulipas.

According to a military press release, the operations took place in Valle Hermoso, Reynosa, Tampico and Miguel Aleman.

During the first two encounters, which took place Friday and Saturday in Valle Hermoso and Reynosa, Mexican marines arrested eight men, described as members of the Gulf Cartel, and seized eight assault rifles, one handgun, six grenades, 80 magazines, 2,224 rounds of ammunition, five bulletproof vests, two helmets and two SUVs.
