    View on Watch

Winter storm warnings and weather advisories have been issued across 15 states as the East Coast receives the first heavy snowfalls of the year, and the bomb cyclone-battered West Coast braces for another storm. Nearly a foot of snow was dumped on parts of Eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey overnight. West Virginia is expecting up to 20 inches of snow across Northwest Pocahontas, Southeast Randolph, and Southeast Webster counties before 7 p.m. Saturday. The National Weather Service (NWS) has warned travel in these may be extremely hazardous. On the West Coast, a winter storm left two dead, hundreds of thousands without power as record-breaking rainfall caused flash floods. Now forecasters are tracking a new storm system that could cause chaos to millions traveling for Thanksgiving next week. "A new storm packing the potential for accumulating snow is set to take shape across the eastern half of the nation on Thanksgiving and Black Friday that could result in widespread disruptions for travel and holiday festivities," AccuWeather said in an update Friday.

Washington state's largest energy utility company, Puget Sound Energy (PSE), said the winter storm battering the Pacific Northwest "was comparable to a hurricane."
More than160,000 PSE customers remained without power this morning.
A spokesperson for the utility company said the storm did "did unprecedented damage" to its power lines.
"Without fixing those lines first, we cannot get power back into many neighborhoods," according to PSE. "Much of this work takes place in hard to reach, remote parts of Western Washington."
Multiple crashes have been reported after the year's first heavy snowfall in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
The state's Department of Transportation has warned drivers to stay off the roads unless travel is absolutely necessary, The Times Tribune reports.
Emergency crews have been called out to several reports of crashes as cars slipped off the icy roads, along with downed power lines and trees.

    - Downed tree hit the Children's play area (tree same age as above)
    - 2 downed redwood trees at another park (younger trees, probably in the range of 40 years old)
