    Just Wondering

I have been watching the people of Iran, by the tens of thousands, taking to the streets in protest. Why can't Americans seem to get of their butts and do the same. Why can't we get pationate about our country, like the Iranians. Some of the Iranians are protesting inspite of the fact they may be punished. When are the American people going to WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope it is before it is too late. We need to get rid of MOST of our elected officals and put new ones in. Even if they turn out not to mean what they say it will still send a message that we won't put up with their crap. They either do what we say or risk losing their job.

I'm wondering the same thing. I can't imagine that hundreds of millions of American citizens and their "actual citizen babies" taking to the streets wouldn't have astronomical impact on this issue. I suspect the numbers themselves are what's deterring the organization of such an American march.

I myself would organize militias to stop all trade coming in from the south, the north, and from all ports for starters, and then I would enlist someone in each of the 50 states to organize a march to the state capitols to demand legislation on the state level, and from there a delegation could be sent from each state on to Washington to storm the Capitol.

The problem we are having is two fold:

    1. We still respect the law and have a reasonable expectation that it will protect and defend us as intended,
    2. We still obey the law and trust our legislators to uphold it.

As more and more Americans realize the peril we are in, more and more Americans will become proactive. Perhaps then we’ll take to our streets and demand our country back. I have hope, and hope is a good thing. Perhaps the best of things. (Yes, from the movie Shawshank Redemption).

In the meantime we can continue with the silent protest of pulling out of our economy. We should not be spending so much as a dime that isn’t necessary, and most certainly should not be eating out, as eateries are among the biggest offenders of illegal immigrant hiring.

My 2 cents, for what its worth.

I think the tea parties are making a point about taxation without representation--the count is now up to well over 1,100.
Activism, I think, has turned more to the Internet, rather than physically demonstrating, though a march would capture more media attention.

The real reason is APATHY . To get involved would mean that the people would actually have to participate physically . If things can't get done by an impersonal e-mail or fax , heaven forbid to actually write a letter it just won't happen until it is too late to write a check to make it go away . My sister is a prime example of not watching any news at all . She'll check the weather but that's about it . She is just like millions of people who say " well I'm just one person and they are not going to listen to me " attitude . I'm slowly changing her ways . She has to watch Lou Dobbs with me and from just that little bit she is starting to wake up . I ask everyone with a young child that I see if they want their child to grow up in America or the North American Union . The majority do not have a clue . I personally give information about ALIPAC and NUMBERSUSA everyday to at least one stranger . It is up to the informed to wake up the uninformed from their APATHY . I do what I can , HAWK

I am also watching the thousands of people that came out for the Laker parade today. Don't get me wrong. I love the Lakers, so if you can get out for them, you can get out for your country.
