UPDATE 1-Florida says 5 more states challenge health overhaul

UPDATE 1-Florida says 5 more states challenge health overhaul- Now 18 States in law suit! If your state is NOT- why NOT? Call your state Gov and AG and find out why!

MIAMI, April 7 (Reuters) - Five more U.S. states are to join a Florida-led group of states in a collective lawsuit challenging President Barack Obama's overhaul of the U.S. healthcare system, Florida's attorney general said on Wednesday.

The joint lawsuit led by Florida and now grouping 18 states was filed on March 23.

It claims the sweeping reform of the $2.5 trillion healthcare system violates state-government rights in the U.S. Constitution and will force massive new spending on hard-pressed state governments.

South Carolina, Nebraska, Texas, Utah, Louisiana, Alabama, Colorado, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Washington, Idaho, and South Dakota had previously joined Florida's lawsuit.

"We welcome the partnership of Indiana, North Dakota, Mississippi, Nevada and Arizona as we continue fighting to protect the constitutional rights of American citizens and the sovereignty of our states," Bill McCollum said.

The lawsuit says the health overhaul law -- which expands government health plans for the poor, imposes new taxes on the wealthy and requires insurers to cover people with preexisting medical conditions -- violates the Constitution's commerce clause by requiring nearly all Americans to buy health insurance.

"On behalf of the residents in Florida and the states joining our efforts, we are committed to aggressively pursuing this lawsuit to the U.S. Supreme Court if necessary to prevent this unprecedented expansion of federal powers, impact upon state sovereignty, and encroachment on our freedom," McCollum said in a statement released by his office.

I just called CA AG Browns office and spoke for a long time to one of the people that take inquires from residents. I told him I didn't care about "red states or blue states" that I cared that CA was broke, the country is broke and there is a better way to do this and besides this bill taxes people for 4 years for only 6 years of coverage and it is going to tax the future generations to the max and yet still leave the country in debt.

For those in CA who can call - there is a Toll Free number - I had to wait about 15 minutes before someone picked up - but please call as they take down notes on the call and what is said.

The Gov of Nevada has joined the suit. I am not sure who filed and joined with the law suit, but Nevada has joined and filed with the other 17 states.

The Governor did, ignoring the Attorney General, but the Attorney General is threatening a law suit against the Governor!

If Gov. Gibbons actions are politically motivated, what about the AG's actions? Since she's a Democrat, she agrees with Obamacare, so she won't sue!

Both are politically motivated..it just depends which side of the fence you are on and get your money from.

Perhaps, but the story makes not mention of the political motivations of the AG. That's what I was referring to.

Besides, even if Gibbons wasn't running for re-election (I'm not a big fan of Gibbons BTW), since the Obamacare law is so obviously an overreach, he may have wanted to sue anyway because there's no way Nevada can afford the $650 million increase to Medicaid costs that Nevada will have to come up with. Nevada's broke as it is right now.

Also since Obamacare is such an obvious overreach, I would asign MORE political motivation to the AG for NOT wanting to sue. She doesn't want to go against her Democrat overlords, so she sees nothing wrong with the law.

I am under the impression they are both running for office, The question was "Is your State getting involved in the lawsuit" This is my answer and the news on my State..Maybe you have better information I sure hope someone does!

On a side note, Nevada wouldn't have any fiscal problems in the first place if they enforced the laws and stopped giving free bees to all illegals...Of course by not doing this, certain Corporations and Business concerns would not reap huge rewards at the expense of the populace. As usual money is talking again, but the "chickens will come home to roost". We are seeing it now in huge tax loss revenues from all areas of the economy....

At least Mr Gibbons has been trying to cut expenses he even has a law firm willing to do this law suit for free for Nevada. Makes sense to me. What did Mrs Masto do about it? She of course in her wisdom now wants to file a law suit at our expense against the Governor to stop it.
Now of course she could be blowing smoke, most of them do that, a lot.

As far as I am concerned KICKTHEMALLOUT is and has been my motto for years. My hope is people are starting to get the picture...now whether that happens or not time will tell. I have found people say and do different things and their agenda's are always contrary to my own.

Sorry if I sound snide but politicians make me feel that way and I am tired of the lies they tell, especially when it is my tax dollars paying for them to screw me over. As far as the "Health Care Law " goes ..2800 pages of garbage, total control over me and mine, no cost containment what so ever..and pure gouging of the US taxpayer.
