Feds to 60 Million American Anglers: We don’t need you
White House created an Interagency Oceans Policy Task Force
Feds to 60 Million American Anglers: We don’t need you
By Editor Monday, October 12, 2009
IRVINE, Calif. USA – A recently published administration document outlines a structure that could result in closures of sport fishing in salt and freshwater areas across America.
The White House created an Interagency Oceans Policy Task Force in June and gave them only 90 days to develop a comprehensive federal policy for all U.S. coastal, ocean and Great Lakes waters. Under the guise of ‘protecting’ these areas, the current second phase of the Task Force direction is to develop zoning which may permanently close vast areas of fishing waters nationwide. This is to be completed by December 9, 2009.
Dave Pfeiffer, President of Shimano American Corporation explained, “In spite of extensive submissions from the recreational fishing community to the Task Force in person and in writing, they failed to include any mention of the over one million jobs or the 6o million anglers which may be affected by the new policies coast to coast. Input from the environmental groups who want to put us off the water was adopted into the report verbatim – the key points we submitted as an industry were ignored.â€Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

I swear I thought maybe this was a joke or something.
The WH has enough time, money, and political capital to create an "Interagency Oceans Policy Task Force"?
That will "develop a comprehensive federal policy for ALL U.S. coastal, ocean and Great Lakes waters"?
So that these waters are managed, “[b][u]consistent with international law, including customary international law as reflected in the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Seaâ€<div>Number*U.S. military*in S.Korea to protect their border with N.Korea: 28,000. This is that Law of the Seas crap again. Under the US Constitution, the Federal government does not have jurisdiction over the coastal waters except in specified areas (national defense, immigration, import / export issues, interstate commerce etc); the states do. That is why states that have oil deposits off their shores can collect fees from companies drilling in their waters. Likewise, some states, such as California and Florida, have banned drilling off their coasts. States also establish their own laws regarding licenses for fishing, boating, catch limits, species bans etc. I believe this will wind up in the Supreme Court if the Feds try to impose Federal control over what the Constitution meant to be assigned to the individual States.
