HOUSE BILL 2805

Prohibits state agencies from providing employment, products, services or licenses to persons who are not lawfully present in United States.
Imposes penalty of five years' imprisonment, $125,000 fine, or both, for knowingly making false affidavit or declaration of resident status to obtain employment, products, services or license.

HOUSE BILL 2802
Sponsored by Representative THATCHER
Prohibits restrictions on public body's ability to enforce immigration law to extent permitted by federal law. Authorizes legal resident to bring civil action against public body that violates prohibition.
Requires peace officer to make reasonable attempt to determine immigration status of person stopped or arrested for crime.
Requires county to verify immigration status of person incarcerated in county correctional facility. Authorizes law enforcement agencies to enter into agreement with federal government for purposes of enforcing immigration law.
Creates crime of failure to carry an alien registration document. Punishes by maximum of 30 days' imprisonment, $1,250 fine, or both.
Creates crime of smuggling. Punishes by maximum of 10 years' imprisonment, $250,000 fine, or both.
Prohibits certain conduct related to employment of unauthorized aliens. Punishes by maximum of six months' imprisonment, $2,500 fine, or both.
Creates crime of encouraging unlawful immigration. Punishes by maximum of five years' imprisonment, $125,000 fine, or both.
Requires employers to verify immigration status of employees hired after January 1, 2012. Prohibits intentionally or knowingly hiring unauthorized alien. Authorizes Attorney General or district attorney to investigate violations. Suspends or revokes business licenses of violators under certain circumstances.

Requires employer to verify legal status of employee to be employed in United States through federal E-Verify program prior to deducting expenses related to worker's employment from Oregon taxable income. Prohibits deduction of wages paid to unverified employee as business expense for purposes of Oregon taxation.
Declares emergency, effective on passage.

Thank you so much for posting this. This has NOT made the papers here at all, and is obviously being kept low (by this rep. or by the other side?). I have emailed my support of her legislation, and offered up my help locally to see it moved forward. Oregon has an uphill battle, as this is a big ag state and illegals are pretty much all that they want, it is cheap labor.

SENATE BILL 845
By Senator SHIELDS, Representative CANNON, JENSON, KOTEK
Requires Department of Transportation to issue driver license or driver permit to applicant who has complied with all requirements for license or permit but does not provide proof of legal presence in United States.
Provides that person who does not provide proof of legal presence in United States may only use driver license or driver permit as evidence of grant of driving privileges. Provides exceptions. Directs department to indicate on driver license or driver permit that license or permit may only be used for limited purposes.
Prohibits police officer from discriminating against individual who holds driver license or driver permit that states that it may only be used for limited purposes.

To be honest, this last one I cannot agree with. Illegal aliens should in NO way get any sort of license. Doing so gives them and edge to stay.
