Ron Paul Attracts 750 Voters to Seattle Town Hall Meeting
King County event tops off caucus eve schedule
BELLEVUE, Washington – 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul attracted more than 750 voters to his Seattle Town Hall Meeting, topping off a day of campaigning in eastern and western Washington.
Dr. Paul’s Seattle event took place at 7:30 p.m. PST at the Bell Harbor International Conference Center, 2211 Alaskan Way, Pier 66. More than 750 voters greeted the 12-term Congressman from Texas who spoke, and took questions from the audience.

Ron Paul Brings Sexy Back
Today at The Daily Caller I make the point, albeit in an entertaining way, that only Ron Paul actually delivers what every Tea Partier and conservative Republican claims to want most:
Video at the page link
No single leader or individual group controls the Tea Party but most Tea Partiers would agree that balancing the budget and reducing the debt is their top priority. The question today is, ‘For which presidential candidate is this a top priority?’
A recent study indicates there is only one. After examining each candidate’s economic proposals, last week the independent Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget reported that Newt Gingrich’s plan would add $7 trillion to the national debt, Santorum’s would add $4.5 trillion and Romney’s would add $250 billion.
But Ron Paul would actually cut our debt to the tune of $2.2 trillion.
But many conservative Republicans say they aren’t necessarily comfortable with Paul on every issue. This doesn’t change the fact that Paul is the only one who’s right on what has always been the Tea Party’s primary issue. It doesn’t change the fact that Romney, Santorum and Gingrich all fail miserably on what has always been the Tea Party’s primary issue.
The entire purpose of our Constitution was to limit the federal government, including its power to spend recklessly. Paul’s purist constitutional approach is nothing less than hitting the reset button on the republic of the Founders. As the Daily Caller’s Max Borders has observed:
One of the cleverest things Justin Timberlake ever did was bring sexy back. After all, sexy never really went away. But once the song came out, it didn’t matter. People welcomed sexy back with open arms. Now there’s nothing particularly sexy about the Ron Paul campaign…
But just as Justin Timberlake brought sexy back, Ron Paul is bringing the Constitution back even though it never went away…

Michael Scheuer: When war comes, Dr Paul can say, "George Washington and I tried to warn you!"
Submitted by GBAmerica on Sat, 03/03/2012 - 20:51
For much more than a decade, Dr. Ron Paul has warned Americans about the danger inherent in a bipartisan foreign policy that intervenes in other peoples’ affairs, seeks to impose Western values on others, and writes blank-check commitments to fight for other countries in wars where no genuine U.S. national interest at risk. Dr. Paul often cites George Washington’s words in this regard, as our first president — and the greatest American — clearly, starkly and eloquently warned of the disasters awaiting the United States if its leaders engaged in an interventionist foreign policy and favored one nation over all the others.

My policy has been and will continue to be ... to be on friendly terms with, but independent of, all nations on earth. To share in the broils of none. To supply their wants, and be carriers for them all; being thoroughly convinced that it is our policy and interest to do so; and that nothing short of self-respect, and that justice which is essential to a national character, ought to involve us in war.

The GOP Seeks its own John Kerry

Blog
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...e_Skidmore.jpgEight years ago a candidate who inspired young Democrats and independents was passed over in favor of a more electable choice – John Kerry was chosen over the brash Howard Dean in an “anyone-but-Bush” race.
Today, Republicans line up in an attempt to repeat history. In this "anyone-but-Obama" race, they are overlooking a candidate who inspires inside the party and out in favor of the “electable” option.
Is a win more important for Republicans or is that vague feel of electability more important? The two are exclusive of each other according to the results of the 1976, 1980, 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, and 2008 elections. Choose the moderate – the one who feels tolerable to everyone – and you reject the candidate from your own party who inspires.
The moderate might win if the other team’s guy fails at inspiring his base.
Spending a fortune, having a hard time breaking 50%, inspiring few, tolerable to party insiders – Mitt Romney comes across to independent observers as John Kerry Part Deux.
Good for a Cocktail Party
I have no idea whether either John Kerry or Mitt Romney speaks French, but something about them makes me feel like they both do. In fact, they can probably both tell a good joke in French. You know, the kind of joke that makes you chuckle, chuckle, chuckle.
Men of the world, men who look presidential, men who can be universally tolerated in polite company – the kind of guy you’d invite to your cocktail party if you wanted to make sure that he would offend as few people as a discussion on the weather. They both come across as gentlemen and are both capable of being tolerable politicians.
They would even be great candidates if elections weren’t about winning support, but about offending as few people as possible.

Romney Delegate Strength only 1.99 out of 100
Submitted by grandOPUS on Sat, 03/03/2012 - 22:15
Delegates
Checking out CNN's Delegate Calculator, there's a little metric under Mitt Romney's name that read "1.99 Delegate strength".
GOP Delegate Calculator - Election Center 2012 - Elections & Politics from CNN.com
That's 1.99 out of 100. Folks, this race has only just begun!
When you click the "what's this?" link it says the following:
"It's easy to tell when presidential candidates have won a majority of the delegates up for grabs, but a lot harder to calculate when they have reached an earlier and more important milestone -- the moment when the delegate math has made their ultimate victory inevitable. That's what CNN's "delegate strength" score is designed to do.
When the score is low, a candidate's ultimate nomination is far from inevitable, regardless of how big a lead he or she has. When the score reaches 100 (or higher), it means that every candidate who has reached the level of support in past races has been considered the inevitable nominee at that point.
That's not a prediction of what will ultimately occur next year -- if 2012 is a unique election for any reason, those historical trends may not apply to the coming primary season. But in past years the delegate strength calculation has been a good guide to identify the moment when nearly all political observers -- including most supporters of the losing candidates -- have agreed that the fight for the nomination is effectively over."

WA caucus: Ron Paul wins exit poll for 2nd Legislative District
Submitted by Stephanie Ealy on Sat, 03/03/2012 - 20:04Daily Paul Liberty Forum
Washington
Hundreds of people showed up for the Washington State 2nd Legislative District of Pierce County GOP caucus this morning. So much so, that after the 10:00 a.m. deadline to start the program had passed, 200 people were still waiting outside, with a total of around 800-900 caucus participants altogether.
You could feel the tension in the air from the start as the Republican nominee to go against Obama was a sticky conversation to carry on. While standing in line, my intuition kicked in to mellow out when the debate I was in with an older gentleman about Ron Paul's foreign policy started getting out of hand.
The Ron Paul heated debate
My voice rose as I said, "No, you are misunderstanding it sir, Ron Paul's foreign policy is not against war, he is against these careless, endless wars -- he believes in building up our National Defense and protecting our own borders, not building...

While standing in line, my intuition kicked in to mellow out when the debate I was in with an older gentleman about Ron PaulRon Paul's foreign policy started getting out of hand.
The Ron Paul heated debate
My voice rose as I said, "No, you are misunderstanding it sir, Ron Paul's foreign policy is not against war, he is against these careless, endless wars -- he believes in building up our National Defense and protecting our own borders, not building embassies and bases all around the world and protecting theirs -- we are spending a kazillion dollars and printing money out of thin air to fight these wars -- people are still getting killed today in these wars that are not about fighting for freedom anymore!"
With sparks flying, the older gentleman in his late 70's got right up in my face and said, "We tried that in WWI and it didn't work, look what happened -- Ron Paul is a fool, he doesn't know what he is talking about!"
After a few more exchanges, realizing people had stopped and were watching us, finally I smiled and said, "Sir I respect your views and do not want to fight with you." The funny thing was, we had already duked it out! No other word was spoken between the two of us, and I did not see him again in the sea of people.
The Washington state 2nd Legislative caucus
Before the proceedings officially started, the gentleman with the mic said, "Lets all take a moment of silence for the two young Powell boys who died not too far from here and our fallen soldiers." The biggest roar from the crowd erupted when all the military vets and active duty personnel stood up for recognition.
Before voting, each candidate's surrogate went up to speak. It was obvious the Ron Paul troops were in the house. When Dr. Paul's representative, Ken Kady, stood up to give his pitch for the Texas Congressman, all manner of shouting, whistling, hootin' and hollerin' broke out throughout Kady's speech. The other three had some random applause when their surrogate's stumped for Newt GingrichNewt Gingrich, Mitt RomneyMitt Romney and Rick SantorumRick Santorum, respectively.
I asked several people who they were voting for and why:
"Our favorite is Gingrich, but we voted for Santorum because we knew Newt was smeared too much so he wouldn't have a chance to win," Coral St. John replied. Clair St. John piped in with, "Romney can't take any criticism, but he can dish it out." The St. John's proudly shared that they were both over 80-years-old, were the only ones who showed up from precinct 21.
"We came to persuade our Precinct Community Officer (PCO) to vote for Ron Paul, but when we got here we found out he was already a Ron Paul supporter," announced Christopher Kinney with a huge smile, from precinct 24 who had five voters and all were unanimous for Ron Paul.
"I came out to convince people to vote for Mitt Romney, because he is the most prepared, he knows business and he understands the private sector," said Bryce Sheldon, a well dressed preppy guy from precinct 36. Thirty-six won 4 votes for Santorum, 2 for Romney, 1 for both Gingrich and Paul.
"We're struggling because we don't agree, but we are both voting for Santorum because his ideas reflect our views," said Mr. and Mrs. Smallwood from precinct 19 -- Mitt took 5, Rick 4, Ron and Newt both took 2 votes from that one.
Exit poll results
As things were winding down at Graham-Kapowsin High School, in Graham, Wash., I conducted my own exit poll. I asked 21 precincts for their results and frankly could not wait to get home and put it on a spreadsheet. I thought for sure Rick Santorum had the most votes, then Ron Paul, and just behind them would be Mitt Romney. I was wrong! Ron Paul took 61 votes, Mitt Romney 53, Rick Santorum 51 and Newt Gingrich 17. It will be interesting to see the official results with Paul, Romney and Santorum so close.
As I made my rounds from table to table, a gentleman stopped me, with a smirk on his face, he proudly stated, "I'm a Mormon and I'm a Ron Paul supporter." I chuckled and replied, "Well I guess you don't hear that everyday, now do you!"
Imagine America restored video here.

The One Thing That Would Get Ron Paul Followers To Stop Following Ron Paul
By Marin Cogan
http://www.gq.com/news-politics/blog...7/RON_PAUL.jpg
For more than a week now, Republicans have been buzzing with rumors of a strategic alliance between Mitt Romney and Ron Paul. Leaving aside for a moment whether these rumors are true, they certainly seem unlikely to sit well with Paul's legion of uncompromising devotees. So on Saturday, I went to a Paul rally on a nearly frozen college campus in central Michigan to find out whether any of them could stomach supporting Romney, even if Paul asked very nicely.
"Hell no!" says Nick Marroni, a 30-year-old indie game designer brandishing a copy of End the Fed. "I think he's a total creep. He's exactly the same as Gingrich, Santorum, and Obama, they're all creeps. They're all corrupt." And if Paul endorsed him? "I'd just be disappointed in Ron Paul. I don't support Ron Paul because it's Ron Paul. I support what he represents."
The notion that Paul might be angling for a vice-presidential slot for himself—or for his son, Rand—sounds especially absurd to the people who claim to know him best. To hear them tell it, the so-called cult of Ron Paul is a myth. The cult surrounds his message—his anti-Fed evangelism, his anti-intervention credo—and Paul has only maintained his role as their leader by remaining doggedly committed to it through his decades-long career. As Thaddeus McCotter, a colleague of Paul's in the House, told me this weekend, libertarians make "terrible co-conspirators." They're too independent and too stubborn to consider supporting someone like Mitt Romney, who, as retired staff sergeant Rhys Williams says, "is a carbon copy of Obama—no, he's worse."
Williams calls over Joe Jurecki, a rotund, Marine Corps vet in a mustard-colored sweater, and asks, "Hey, do you think Ron Paul will endorse Mitt Romney?" "No," Jurecki says. "Ron Paul won't do it. He stood on principle his whole career. The only reason he's at where he's at now is because he stood strong." Williams nods, and then turns to me. This whole Romney-Paul alliance, he says, is "media skullduggery."
I remind them that Ron Paul participated in a recent New York Times story noting that the two had a friendly relationship--and that The Washington Post has reported that they coordinate on minor details, such as the timing of election night speeches. But Jurecki is nonplussed, suggesting these stories are just a Romney ploy to tame their influence. "They know without our vote they cannot win," he says. "They don't want to tick us off. They know a lot of us won't vote for him anyway if he's the nominee but they definitely don't want us working against them. They also don't want Ron getting mad and running third party."
In the online Ron Paul forums, there was—unsurprisingly—a more conspiratorial theory: the "alliance" was a lie, cooked up by Romney and served to the public by the media. The sinister goal here, wrote one commenter on Daily Paul, "is to disillusion his supporters into thinking that he too, like Romney, is a sell out and a RINO so that when he loses supporters won't be so upset and will vote for Romney."
Of course, there is a more banal, less sinister, and altogether more likely explanation: maybe Ron Paul and Mitt Romney just like each other? "Being cordial is one thing," says Joel Robideaux, a state representative from Louisiana who endorsed Paul. But "making concessions and compromises—that's really not his style. For those of us who kind of live in the political world and who cover it, it's oftentimes a lot less complicated than what people try to make of it." And in any case, Robideaux says, an alliance—even if one existed—almost certainly wouldn't work. "As beloved as Dr. Paul is with his supporters I'm not sure he can deliver them to someone like Romney," Robideaux says. "Even if he begged them."

Delegates
Minnesotans elected as delegates for Ron Paul, Beware! There is a concerted effort going on in the Minnesota GOP to identify and disqualify elected Ron Paul delegates from moving on from the BPOU Conventions! Please be VERY careful when questioned by the GOP as to who you are supporting or what issues are important to you!
They are trying to remove the Ron Paul delegates from the picture before they can get to the State Convention or to the National Convention in Tampa and in so doing offset any real advantage we might have. Get the word out to all Minnesotans for Ron Paul please! Keep in touch with the campaign and be careful when talking to other GOP people!

Ron Paul 2012
Washington
Hi all, we just got back from the Ron Paul rally following the Washington State Caucus. We are District Coordinators and Precinct Leaders, and a pooled caucus leader in a separate District Caucus that we attended. WE TOTALLY OVERWHELMED THEM ALL!!!
We KILLED it in the DELEGATES! Do not be discouraged from the easily manipulated (and highly suspect) "straw poll" that was reported by the media.
REMEMBER, the straw poll does not count (but would have been fun to win!) - DELEGATES are what matter and we did GREAT! I have been forwarding in Ron Paul Delegate information to the Campaign HQ all afternoon and speaking to my other pooled caucus leaders here in King county, we did great everywhere.
Just remember, TURNOUT, TURNOUT, TURNOUT is what counts when it gets to your turn!
We are in this fight!

Where are all the libertarians coming from?
By Anton Howes
Friday, 2 March 2012 at 9:59 am
http://blogs.independent.co.uk/wp-co...61-300x200.jpg There’s a silent revolution happening on campuses across the world. Libertarian activism is on the rise. Political figures like Ron Paul have started to draw huge support from younger voters, but the trend seems to be much deeper and more sustained than any single political campaign. Rather than simply throwing support behind individuals and politicians, students are rallying around distinctly pro-liberty ideas and ideologies.
The US has been at the forefront of this change. Even discounting Ron Paul drawing huge crowds to his rallies, purely ideas-based organisations like Students for Liberty have grown rapidly. Its International Conference attracted over 1000 students this February, and while this might not yet compare with some socialist and conservative rallies or conferences, the most astonishing thing is that just four years ago that same conference attracted only 100 people. A tenfold increase should be cause for interest, and the first four-figure libertarian student conference in the world, without any of the politics or rallying around a central figure is unprecedented.
Groups like Students for Liberty have even become confident enough to set up activism infrastructure in Europe too, with the very first European conference last year attracting over 200 people from 25 countries. Generally considered more socialist, with large welfare states and the continuation of radical socialist politics on its campuses, many would have said Europe was a highly improbable place for libertarian ideas to be so popular.
In the UK alone, the number of freedom-oriented student groups quadrupled in just a year from 7 to around 30, and the conferences held by the Liberty League, the UK’s network for young libertarians already attract over 100 people. The presence of these groups allows for all sorts of possibilities. Once they start to use their support to make their voice heard around campus, it will no longer appear as though the radical left is dominant in universities, and this may eventually lead to a new status quo in student politics.
So where have all these young libertarians come from? The underlying answer is that the internet has allowed more rapid transmission of ideas and opinions. Whereas there was once only a solitary libertarian bookshop in London which had to be either visited or written to, the internet has provided the opportunity to read the intellectual forebears and opinion-dispersing bloggers of classical liberalism for free, and instantly.
But that’s not a sufficient explanation. Although ideas may spread, this effect would only amount to lots of dispersed, isolated people being broadly sympathetic to libertarianism and classical liberalism. The appearance of an actual movement depends on the growing infrastructure to gather pro-freedom students together in one place to discuss their ideas face-to-face, form social bonds, and perhaps most importantly of all, show that they are not alone: the most frequent phrase I hear from potential activists is “But my campus is so socialist, I’m probably the only libertarian there!”
This activism infrastructure started with think-tanks and pressure groups spreading the ideas, and even crafting the policy proposals to implement them. But with the advent of dedicated support networks for student societies and young people to bring them together, this has allowed an initially small number of activists to inspire each other, create their own social groups, and consequently expand them even further. Perhaps most importantly, the success of these ideas-based groups is likely to be more sustainable than any overtly political or partisan project. Unlike political party youth groups, they lack the wannabe politicians and careerists, have a much broader appeal across the political spectrum, and aren’t dependent on individual political figures or the popularity of parties.
So it’s a good time to be a libertarian. The policies may not all be going that way just yet, but if the movement maintains its rate of progress, we may soon see student libertarians being a large enough constituency to sway even the politicians.

Romney changes view on contraception coverage within an hour
Mitt Romney was once again fighting to shake off his image as an accident-prone candidate on Thursday after he was accused of "flip-flopping" over whether US employers with religious affiliations should be forced to pay for contraception.
http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/...t_2155783a.jpgEarlier this week, Mr Romney survived a critical test-vote on the credibility of his candidacy, winning comfortably in Arizona and scoring a narrow victory in his home state of Michigan, where a loss could have fatally wounded his campaign Photo: Justin Sullivan/Getty Images

Asked if he supported a Republican bill that would exempt Catholic and other religious-backed hospitals and schools from a White House rule requiring them to provide free birth control insurance coverage, Mr Romney said he did not.
"I'm not for the bill," Mr Romney told an interviewer while campaigning in the crucial swing state of Ohio. "The idea of presidential candidates getting into questions about contraception within a relationship between a man and a women, husband and wife, I'm not going there."
However within an hour Mr Romney had apparently changed his mind, with campaign officials saying their candidate had "misunderstood" the question.
"The way the question was asked was confusing. Governor Romney supports the Blunt Bill because he believes in a conscience exemption in health care for religious institutions and people of faith," said Andrea Saul, a spokesperson for Mr Romney.
Inadvertent or not, the mistake gave further easy ammunition to Mr Romney's opponents and provided unwanted distractions as he seeks to building momentum for his campaign ahead of next week's Super Tuesday primary contests.

"In one hour, Mitt Romney showed why women don't trust him for one minute," said the Obama campaign in a statement, "It took little more than an hour for him to commit his latest flip-flop. Even worse, he ended up on the wrong side of an issue of critical importance to women."
Rick Santorum, the ultra-conservative Catholic who is still Mr Romney's main rival for the nomination, also sought to capitalise on the contraception issue which has angered the Christian evangelical base that has underpinned his recent surge in the polls.
"As governor, Mitt Romney has a clear record of taking away the freedom of religion," said Mr Santorum's spokesman, Hogan Gidley.
"We all know Romney's liberal record on this, so when he's asked a question about a bill that would protect our religious freedom, and Romney's gut reaction is to say he'd oppose it, we shouldn't be the least bit surprised."
Earlier this week, Mr Romney survived a critical test-vote on the credibility of his candidacy, winning comfortably in Arizona and scoring a narrow victory in his home state of Michigan, where a loss could have fatally wounded his campaign.
Those two wins, which was followed by victory in a straw poll in Wyoming yesterday, appeared to have given the former management consultant some initial momentum running into next Tuesday's ten-state race.
A new national poll of Republican voters by Rasmussen Reports put Mr Romney 16 points clear of Mr Santorum, who had been leading only a week ago.
However Mr Romney, a relative moderate, has still failed to gain the confidence of the Republican party's hardcore conservative base and has yet to win any of the key Midwestern states that are needed to carry the presidency in November.
As a result, attention is now focusing on next Tuesday's race for Ohio, a vital swing state, where Mr Romney has been trailing Mr Santorum in the polls.
Analysts say that failure to win in Ohio would re-open still lingering questions about Mr Romney's chances of beating Mr Obama in November, which were only half-answered by his three-point win in Michigan.

Get Ready For Some Tampa Bay Delegate Lightning
Submitted by zooamerica on Sun, 03/04/2012 - 18:44Daily Paul Liberty Forum
I'm getting excited. Not about hockey...political baseball season is starting! This whole thing is really starting to get hot, and it's not even summer yet! Heck, it's not even spring and Team Paul America is pitching some serious heat in the early innnings of the 2012 political world series.
Keep things in perspective
Few people are actually paying any attention to the big dog and pony show games right now besides political fans, aka, "fanatics," like ourselves. We care, most don't.
It's too early on to tune in. Baseball, like politics is too boring to watch for the average voter. They'll tune in at around the top of the 7th inning in June.
I love baseball because it involves so much strategy to win. You can have all the heavy hitters in the lineup, like team Romney, Inc., but if the team has no pitching bullpen, fuhgetaboutit.
The delegates are the real closers, and only Team Paul America has the bullpen of delegates to win this game.
Team Romney, Inc. has aweful pitching. He can't even strike out Rick Santorum, and Newt keeps hanging in there with an early homerun dinger, and many foul balls and multiple singles since South Carolina.
It's the top of the 4th innning and the game is still very tight. For some reason, Romney is intentionally walking Ron Paul every at bat. But Romney is eventually going to be forced to pitch against Paul when all the bases are loaded in Tampa Bay in the bottom of the 9th come late August 2012.

Ron Paul Alaska Team Welcomes Key Endorsement from Mrs. Joe Miller
Kathleen Miller, wife of popular former Tea Party U.S. Senate candidate, “proudly” stands with Paul
ANCHORAGE, Alaska – 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul was endorsed today by Kathleen Miller, wife of Joe Miller, a popular Tea Party Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in the state of Alaska during the 2010 election.
Organizational affiliations preclude Mr. Miller from making public his support for any presidential candidate. However, his biography follows the public endorsement and following statement issued by Mrs. Miller alone:
“I am supporting Ron Paul because he is the only candidate who is truly committed to following the Constitution and its original intent. Dr. Paul also understands and is committed to addressing the extreme fiscal crisis our nation is faced with.
“At this point in our nation’s history, we cannot risk more business as usual. The circumstances demand a leader who will take his oath of office seriously and who will confront the ingrained corruption the marks modern American politics.
“I proudly stand with Dr. Paul and Carol as they continue their fight for liberty.”
Joe Miller shocked the political world on August 24, 2010 when he, according to media accounts, came out of nowhere to defeat incumbent Senator Lisa Murkowski in the Alaskan Republican Primary. He then entered into a contentious three-way general election, where federal contractors and others who benefited from the status quo waged a multimillion-dollar campaign and managed to help narrowly defeat Joe.
Joe graduated from West Point in the top 1 percent of the Class of 1989. He then served as an armor officer with the 1st Infantry Division, seeing combat in Operation Desert Storm. During his service, he was decorated with the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal and other awards. After active duty, Joe attended Yale Law School where he earned his juris doctorate. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Alaska.
Joe’s commitment to public service continued following his move to Alaska, which was the fulfillment of a long held dream. At the age of 30, he was appointed as a State Magistrate (the youngest then serving in Alaska). Further honors followed four years later when Miller was appointed an Acting State District Court Judge and, shortly thereafter, U.S. Magistrate Judge in Fairbanks. Again, he had the distinction of being the youngest then serving in that federal position, not only in the state, but also in the entire nation. He later served as a part-time borough attorney, while he ran a successful law practice.
Joe and Kathleen currently reside in Fairbanks with their children and have been married for over 19 years.
Providing a strong boost to Ron Paul’s Alaska organization, such endorsements present Ron Paul as the conservative alternative to Mitt Romney. They also demonstrate that the 12-term Congressman from Texas has the only campaign organization capable of maintaining a 50-state competition with the moderate-establishment Romney.

Supporting Santorum Means Rejecting the Tea Party
The Tea Party’s primary goal from the very beginning was to target government spending and debt. Some members were more fiscally conservative, some were more socially conservative, some were independents and some were even folks who might have voted for Obama but had become scared of what the Democrats were doing to the country.
But the Tea Party also represented Americans who were fed up with what the Republican Party had done to our country, showing as much anger toward the big spending Bush years as they did Obama. Before the Tea Party, big government Republicans could more easily win re-elections with a wink and a nod to conservatives, despite their horrible records. After the Tea Party, big government Republicans feared the conservative grassroots, who often targeted such Republican politicians precisely because of their records.
The Tea Party represented independence.
Rick Santorum has always represented everything the Tea Party purported to stand against. The Washington Examiner’s Timothy P. Carney has noted:
“As a member of Senate leadership, Santorum literally was an agent of the GOP establishment during passage of No Child Left Behind, the expansion of Medicare, and the overspending of the Bush era.”
Reviewing Santorum’s book “It Takes a Family” Red State’s Ben Domenech was even more explicit:
Does Rick Santorum have any clue what the Tea Party movement stands for? Is he being purposefully obtuse here? Doesn’t he realize that the big government solutions he advocated for in his book are exactly the reason so many Tea Partiers today don’t call themselves Republicans any more? Certainly, Santorum was a crusader for social conservatives during his time in office… but he was never categorized as someone with robust views on the size or scope of government. As Jonathan Rauch wrote in his book review of the Senator’s ‘It Takes a Family,’ “[Santorum's] first priority is to make government pro-family, not to make it small.”
Whatever Santorum is as a candidate for the 2012 nomination (besides laughable), he is not and will never be a “Tea Party candidate” by any definition but his own. While he and other candidates may long to adapt the Tea Party label to their own political comebacks, the truth is that the Tea Party exists mainly as a rejection of a permissive attitude toward massive government spending and “compassionate” programs by people who loved playing the statesman role in the GOP over the past decade. And Tea Partiers know it.
Do Tea Partiers still “know it?” Or have they forgotten what their movement was supposed to be about?
The kind of Republicans who embraced phony conservatives like Santorum in the past represented the same, old hypocritical GOP that liked to talk conservative but always spent as much money as the Democrats. The Tea Party was, first and foremost, a reaction against this politics of old.
But Santorum unquestionably represents the big government politics of old. To a tee. A Tea Partier who champions Santorum as one of their own is like the New York Yankees championing a member of the Red Sox as one of their own. The former has always been defined primarily by its opposition to the latter.
Tea Partiers who now embrace Santorum should stop pretending they belong to any sort of independent, anti-establishment movement. They belong to the Republican Party. The GOP establishment has been trying to figure out how to corral the Tea Party back into the party machine since day one. With Santorum, they could very well have their solution.

Ron Paul: "I Think Sanctions Give Iran Motivation To Want A Nuclear Weapon"
http://www.zerohedge.com/sites/defau.../picture-5.jpg
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 03/04/2012 12:43 -0500
There are those who say that while they agree completely with Ron Paul's economic policy of fixing the #1 issue that ails America (as a reminder, total US debt/GDP would only decline under a Ron Paul presidency) they disagree with Paul on his foreign policy. We wonder why when all he does is instead of appealing to the jingoism of warmongers and patronizing the basest of herd instincts, he simply tells the truth. Such as on Today's State of the Union show on CNN when asked if Obama has done "enough" to force Iran to stop its nuclear development via sanctions and others, his reply was spot on: "I think he gets too much involved. I think sanctions gives the motivation for them to want a nuclear weapon. We have 45 bases around them, we can demolish them within hours. And the worst thing the sanctions do, and Republicans and Democrats both support it and the other GOP candidates want war even more, the whole thing is there is a lot of dissension in Iran and we should encourage it by not interfering, once we get involve and threaten to bomb them, it becomes nationalistic - everyone joins the Ayataollah and Ahmedinejad. So there is a blowback - unusual circumstances and unintended consequences. So yes, our people are well-intended, but they don't realize how much damage they do by not accomplishing what they want and causing more harm to us. So our military personnel right now are very adamant not to be involved in a bombing of Iran, it makes no sense whatsoever to our military personnel, to the CIA, even though they are much more interventionist than I am."
And probably even more important in light of Obama's apology for burning down Korans (but not for pictures of torture), Paul had this to say: "I thought McNamara was rather astute when he they asked him about the mess he caused in Vietnam: "don't you think you should apologize to the American people and to the world" he said: "what good is an apology: if you make mistakes and you see this and you stir enough trouble, why don't we change our policy. That's what he said: "we should change our policy." So if we have a policy going on in the middle east that is begging that we apologize now and then and others condemning it, I think we should reassess our foreign policy, and that is what I think we are not doing, and that is why I am quite different than the other candidates - the American people are sick and tired of the wars going on over there, we are going broke fighting these wars that are not legitimate in that we were not attacked, they were not declared, and the American people in their majority want us out of there."

Ron Paul gets endorsement from five members of Romney’s family

Texas Rep. Ron Paul on Monday announced that five distant relatives of rival Mitt Romney’s family are endorsing his Republican presidential campaign.
A news release from the Paul campaign boasts of having the support of Ty Romney, Travis Romney, Chad Romney, Jared Romney and Troy Romney. Three of the Romneys — who live in Idaho — will speak on Paul’s behalf during the state’s caucuses on Tuesday.
“I support Ron Paul because he defends the Constitution , loves America and understands what it means to be an American, including the right to live your life any way you want as long as you respect others,” said chiropractor Travis Romney, a second cousin once removed from Mitt Romney.
This isn’t the first time a family member of one of Paul’s rivals announced support for the libertarian-leaning candidate from Texas. Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum’s nephew, John Garver, penned a column for The Daily Caller endorsing Paul.

Non-Aggression Is Not Pacifism (Libertarians Hit Back)
Submitted by Tom Mullen on Mon, 03/05/2012 - 08:21
http://www.tommullen.net/wp-content/...se-150x150.jpgHeading into “Super Tuesday,” many conservatives lament that they do not like any of the remaining Republican candidates for president. Romney is too moderate, Gingrich too much a “Washington insider,” and Santorum both an insider and a guaranteed loser against Obama thanks to his willingness to bare his soul about some of his more outlandish socially conservative views.
That leaves Ron Paul, who would seem to be the ideal conservative candidate. Paul’s Plan to Restore America actually cuts $1 trillion from the federal budget in his first year as president, including eliminating the Department of Education that Ronald Reagan promised to abolish.
Paul is the only candidate that actually disagrees with President Obama in principle on “spreading the wealth around.” Paul doesn’t just nibble a few pennies away from financially insignificant welfare programs. He actually has a funded plan to let young people opt out of Medicare and Social Security. This is really a plan to responsibly end these programs. Government-mandated programs only survive because people are forced to participate. If conservatives really do oppose socialism, they should agree with Paul on this. Where do they think Social Security got its name?
For a large group of conservatives, they are with Paul right up until he explains his foreign policy. Suddenly, not only does the courtship end, they stop taking calls and change their phone numbers. That’s unfortunate because most conservatives make this decision upon a completely distorted view of Paul’s foreign policy.
All of Ron Paul’s policy decisions are based upon the same underlying principle: the libertarian principle of non-aggression. As he stated during my own interview with him last year (about the 7:30 mark here), “That’s the moral principle. The legislative principle is really in the Constitution.” Based upon this principle, the government is never allowed to initiate force against the innocent. That means that it cannot redistribute wealth, it cannot stop you from harming yourself with drugs or other vices, and it cannot start a war with another nation.
This is not some new age idea from the early libertarian movement of the 1970’s. This is the foundation of the founders’ philosophy of government. Thomas Jefferson made it explicit when he said, “No man has a natural right to commit aggression on the equal rights of another; and this is all from which the laws ought to restrain him.”[1]
Jefferson’s first order of business upon reaching the White House was to cut military spending dramatically. His goal was a military establishment adequate to defend the nation but inadequate to the imperial designs of Federalists like Alexander Hamilton. However, when the Pasha of Tripoli declared war upon the United States, Jefferson did not hesitate to send in the Marines for a quick and decisive win.
The confusion starts when Paul’s policies are described as “dovish” or “soft” on Iran or other supposedly belligerent nations. People unfamiliar with libertarian ideas may honestly misunderstand them. Others deliberately distort them. Let there be no confusion. Non-aggression is not pacifism. Libertarians hit back.
Indeed, Paul has said that if the people really do want to go to war, then he would ask the Congress for a declaration of war. He rarely gets time to explain why this is important. The declaration of war involves a debate about whether a state of war already exists. That’s why it’s so important. The declaration of war power doesn’t authorize Congress to start a war. It allows them to direct the president to end it. Check the language of every declaration of war that Congress has ever made. They all support this interpretation.
Active duty military seem to understand this implicitly, which is why they overwhelmingly support Ron Paul. They are ready to risk their lives for their country, but only when their country is truly in danger. Why don’t most conservative voters agree with them? They decorate their vehicles with stickers saying “Support Our Troops” but do not support the candidate that the troops want to be president.
It is no accident that the United States has never really won a war since Congress stopped declaring them. Instead, we send our troops into some far-off land for decades at a time with no clear definition of victory. Their hands are tied with confusing rules of engagement that keep them from winning and prolong the war. This is good for those who profit from war but bad for the troops who risk or lose their lives.
None of this happens in a Ron Paul presidency. Instead, war is far less likely to come at all, which is a good thing. If it is forced upon us, Ron Paul will have it properly declared by the Congress and then will fight it to win. Make no mistake. Of all of the Republican candidates for president, only Ron Paul will win the next war.

OMG: Gloves are off! Lt.Col. Anthony Shaffer just admitted LIVE on Air that Awlaki was a KNOWN Triple-Agent for the FBI!
Submitted by AnCapMercenary on Mon, 03/05/2012 - 13:22
Lt.Col. Shaffer, a man well known amongst R3VOLution, who was in charge of tracking OBL before 9/11, who ran Able Danger, while discussing NDAA with Alex Jones, just admitted openly for the first time, most definitely, emphatically stated for fact, that there are documented, traceable evidence to PROVE that Awlaki was a TRIPLE intel asset for the US Govt!!!
Former and active veterans and intel officers are clearly seeing the writing on the wall, post-NDAA passage. This news on top of the fact that TWO Senators just came out admitting that there were evidence to prove that the Saudi intel were directly involved in orchestrating 9/11. I'd say that the Saudi Intel were more than likely a Secondary or Tertiary force involved.
That said, regardless, um seriously: 15 out of 19 hijackers were Saudis. Like F'ng DUH!
The Rubicon has long been Crossed.
It's all a matter of who will blink first...
Plus, Shaffer just called Dr. Paul's officially retained Atty. Bruce Fein as a "close friend!"
Just think what CAN happen with 9/11 investigation under Dr. Paul's presidency.
You KNOW real patriots like Col. Douglas Macgregor, Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer, Fmr. CIA Philip Giraldi will DEFINITELY be on the Doc's NSC, or at least very, very, very high possibility!
Wow. I'm still picking my jaw off the floor when Lt. Col. Shaffer just stated that they took out Awlaki because he was a US Gvt asset/triple agent who knew too much!
wow.
double wow! Wow!
I'll post YouTube clips as they becomes available.
This is BIG, folks. Very Very Big.
