LAKE JACKSON, Texas – 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul was endorsed today by the Hon. Jordan Mason, City Councilman, Ward 4 of Rapid City, South Dakota.

In making public his endorsement, Councilman Mason said he was doing so as a private citizen and not on behalf of any organization with which he is affiliated.

“I stand for strong fiscal policy. I stand for solving our problems at home before we try to solve other countries’ problems abroad. I stand for liberty and I stand for the American dream. And so I stand behind Ron Paul,” said Councilman Mason.

Councilman Mason is the youngest member of the Rapid City Council, which does not hold partisan elections.

Former Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich said the biggest danger facing the Mitt Romney campaign was the “Ron Paul forces.”

Gingrich, in an appearance on Sean Hannity Radio Monday, warned that the Republican National Convention could get out of hand if the Romney campaign didn’t come with a clear plan. “I think the biggest danger in the short run is that they not think through how they’re going to handle the convention in Tampa, and how they’re going to handle the Ron Paul forces,” Gingrich said.

Gingrich was at the state convention in Georgia last weekend and said the ”Ron Paul people” were out in force. “In the end they lost, but there were a couple of hours when it was pretty raucous,” Gingrich said. “As you know, the Ron Paul people won in Minnesota. I think they won in a number of other states. And so they’ve got a pretty good contingent.”

Yesterday DoD paid Boeing 7.8 mil for software licenses FOR the government of Korea

"The Boeing Co., St. Louis, Mo., is being awarded a $7,800,000 delivery order against a previously issued basic ordering agreement (N00019-11-G-0001) for a software license agreement for Advanced Harpoon Weapon Control System software for the government of Korea under the Foreign Military Sales Program. This provides for the integration into the Encapsulated Harpoon Command Launch System III hardware. Work will be performed in St. Louis, Mo., and is expected to be completed in June 2012. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity."

3 companies were given a combined total of 150 million for "heat-treated aluminum sheet and plate materials." The contracts look like duplicates

"Electric Boat Corp., Groton, Conn., is being awarded a $6,788,520 cost-plus-fixed-fee modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-10-C-211 to obtain vendor services to design and procure the common controller for electric actuation. The contractor will design, manufacture, and qualify test two configurations of the “common” controller to support electric actuation. The work will be performed in Groton, Conn., and is scheduled to be completed by January 2016. Contract funds in the amount of $580,000 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. Supervisor of Shipbuilding Conversion and Repair, Groton, Conn., is the contracting activity."

Massachusetts delegates to the RNC in Tampa have received a letter and affidavit that they are being asked to sign and return, affirming that, under the pain and penalty of perjury, they will vote for Mitt Romney in the first round of voting.
Below is the text of the letter and affidavit, transcribed by me, as it was read to me over the phone by an elected Massachusetts delegate. What should they do?

Under the rules of the Massachusetts Republican Party Plan for the Selection of Delegates and the rules of the National Republican Party, the Avocation Committee charged with certifying Massachusetts delegates for the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida requires each elected delegate and alternate to sign, under the pains and penalties of perjury, the herewith enclosed affirmation, and to be returned on or before 3pm May 29, 2012 to the Massachusetts Republican Party at 85 Merrimack Street, Suite 400, Boston MA 02114.
Electronic delivery, in any form, will not be accepted. Your failure to duly and timely remit the enclosed affidavit will put your status as a delegate in jeopardy.
