Governor Paul LePage Threatens RNC Boycott If Maine Ron Paul Delegates Are Not Seated!

Submitted by LittleWing on Fri, 08/10/2012 - 14:16
    Daily Paul Liberty Forum

"Today, conservative talk show host Ray Richardson announced on Faceboook that Governor Paul LePage, the only elected member of the delegation not challenged by Romney’s supporters, has announced that he will boycott the convention if the Ron Paul delegates are not seated. From Richardson’s post:

The Governor of Maine, Paul LePage, in a conversation five minutes ago said that if they do not seat the Maine Delegation at the RNC, he will not go. These folks need to be seated.

The Governor gave me explicit permission to make this public.

This declaration ups the ante in this conflict and, if the challenge to the delegates is not resolved amicably before they arrive in Tampa, will likely make the Maine disagreement into national news."

    LePage Threatens RNC Boycott

Last week, Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign challenged the seating of Maine’s delegates to the Republican National Convention, suggesting that the takeover of the state Party convention by Ron Paul supporters had resulted in voter fraud during their selection.
This week, the Ron Paul contingent rejected a compromise offer made by Maine GOP Chair Charlie Webster in an attempt to end the conflict and seat the delegates. The agreement would have bound the delegates to voting for Romney and prevented them from voicing certain opinions publicly.

Tea Party leader and Ron Paul delegate Pete “The Carpenter” Harring even took to YouTube fully-eagled to speak out against the proposal.

Today, conservative talk show host Ray Richardson announced on Faceboook that Governor Paul LePage, the only elected member of the delegation not challenged by Romney’s supporters, has announced that he will boycott the convention if the Ron Paul delegates are not seated. From Richardson’s post:

An aside: Interesting that it was Peter Cianchette who filed the challenge. He’s a former state representative, gubernatorial candidate and U.S. Ambassador and this action would seem to preclude a political future for him in Maine’s new Tea Party-fueled GOP.

Policymic: Ron Paul Would Beat Obama: Why Romney Must Be Replaced If the GOP Hopes to Win in 2012

    Ron Paul 2012

Throughout the Republican primaries, the Mitt Romney campaign did a fairly decent job at keeping Romney above the fray. He made the occassional $10,000 bet on national television and agreed with Obama's signing of the NDAA, but for the most part, he remained low key. It was his front-runner position to lose after all, right? Instead of critiquing the assumed front-runner, the mainstream media hyped up the "anti-Mitt" candidate. Newt Gingirch, Rick Perry, and Rick Santorum — who claimed "Romney was the worst Republican in the country to put up against Barack Obama,"then later endorsed Romney — were all considered top contenders. Now that the spotlight is focused on the presumptive nominee, his flaws are all too apparent. Is Romney really the best choice for conservatives?

The most recent gaffe by the Romney campaign involved spokeswoman Andrea Saul, who made the mistake of a lifetime by touting Romneycare in response to the recent controversial attack ad from a pro-Obama super PAC. "Conservatives" are freaking out.

Both Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter have condemned Saul's impromptu response, even demanding the Romney campaign fire Saul. This just adds to Romney's troubles. His 40% favorability mark for presumptive presidential nominees is the worst since 1948. Even the conservative group "Jews and Christians Together" released a memo advising delegates to abstain from voting for Romney on the crucial first ballot.

Time is running short, and momentum is not in his favor. In order to defeat President Obama this November, the GOP must nominate the consistent conservative Ron Paul instead of the Goldman Sachs warmonger Mitt Romney.

Think about it. Does Mitt Romney have a base? And if he does, isn't it mostly those "anyone but Obama" voters? Without the support of the Paul faithful, the already-weak Romney faces a difficult challenge against the campaigner-in-chief Barack Obama, who will have plenty of ammunition to use against Romney in the debates. With so little difference between Romney and Obama, its hard to imagine Romney being able to gain the upper hand against the incumbent. The GOP needs to make a decision fast: continue with a struggling Romney, or choose an idealogically consistent champion of liberty to defeat Obama.

As I mentioned in a previous article, Barack Obama's promise of hope and change in 2008 did not deceive everyone. Even then Ron Paul asserted that Obama offered no change, and would only reinforce the status quo.

Dr. Paul would have an incredible advantage over President Obama in a debate. Obama's continuation of the same failed Keynesian policies that more often than not benefit campaign contributors hasn't revived the American economy. The wasteful spending overseas and the outright ignorance of the coming fiscal cliff, not to mention an impending dollar crisis, have put our country on a course to financial ruin. Doom and gloom, yes. But economic law cannot be repealed by Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke's magical printing press.

Obama would be forced to defend his assault on civil liberties, his unconstitutional war on Libya, his defense of the banking establishment, his attacks on medicinal marijuana users and his overall involvement in the same type of crony capitalism that has resulted in a massive transfer of wealth to the politically connected.

Ron Paul has already won six states, and potentially more. This means he will be on the ballot at the Republican Convention later this month. If the GOP can be convinced to nominate Paul, he could go on to combine the full support of the GOP with those disallusioned Obama supporters and Independents, who are tired of the wars and the failing economy, and become the 45th president of the United States.

Multiple Polls: Why Romney Cannot Beat Obama, and Ron Paul Can.

    Ron Paul 2012

The worse news for Romney is that, as bad as these numbers are, they are even worse in the swing states where the election will be won.

The GOP base, as opposed to the establishment, is getting stabbed in the back by the establishment. What the Republican base does not understand is that the GOP establishment wants Obama. Why wouldn't they? He does everything he is told, war, bail-outs, NDAA, drones in the sky, and he gets away with it because the liberals are still on the Kool-aid. Romney would be impeached by the Libs if he did half the stuff Obama does, and gets away with.

Ron Paul, on the other hand, although not many polls exists, already beats or ties Obama. He is also competitive in the swing states.

We'll see how badly real Republicans want to beat Obama on the first ballot at the convention, after which all delegates are undeniably unbound and all bets are off.

    Poll MoE Obama Romney Spread
    RCP Average 48.3 44.1 Obama +4.2
    CNN/Opinion 3.5 52 45 Obama +7
    FOX News 3.0 49 40 Obama +9
    Rasmussen 3.0 43 47 Romney +4
    Gallup Tracking 2.0 46 46 Tie
    Reuters/Ipsos 3.4 49 42 Obama +7
    Democracy Corps 3.7 50 46 Obama +4
    Pew Research 3.2 51 41 Obama +10

I shot this about 40-50 feet back from the podium. Two other Austinites, Antonio Buehler and Matt "Sovereign" Wood, had been priming the audience for about 45 minutes by leading chants. So when Dr. Paul finally DID hit the stage...the crowd exploded! And yes, that IS me getting the "President Paul" chant going!

Afghan Police Commander Kills Three US Special Ops

Submitted by legalizeliberty on Fri, 08/10/2012 - 21:14
    Peace / War

Gunmen in Afghan uniforms shot and killed three US special operations forces in southern Afghanistan, marking the 28th killed by so-called green-on-blue attacks this year.

The US troops were lured to their deaths by an Afghan police commander who invited them to dinner Thursday night. The Taliban claimed responsibility and said the gunman had defected to the insurgency.

The failure of the US mission in Afghanistan – to build up and train a centralized state and security apparatus – is illustrated clearly in the constant killing of US soldiers by their Afghan counterparts. Much of the security force has been infiltrated by the Taliban or Pakistani agents.

Everybody in the Liberty Movement must see and hear this speech of Tom Woods. It is pure inspiration. In this speech Woods is a Stand Up Artist (not only a Stand Up Comedian) on the stage with Janis Joplin breathing the Air of Liberty behind him. The speech was given in Austin, TX few days ago. Watch it and you will understand what I mean:
