Waterbury (AP) _ A woman who killed a man in a drunken driving crash in Waterbury has been sentenced to eight years in prison.

Saraha Maldonado, 24, pleaded guilty in December to first-degree manslaughter.

Police say that on Jan. 29, 2007, Maldonado tried to speed off after the car she was driving hit a Ford Expedition at a city intersection.

A passenger in the Expedition, 46-year-old Howard Allen of Bridgeport, jumped on the hood of the car the woman was driving. Police say Allen was thrown from the hood and died a short time later.

The prosecutor says Maldonado, who entered the United States illegally, will be deported to Mexico after finishing her prison sentence.
