GOP Rep. Asks Capitol Hill Police To Arrest Illegal Aliens Attending State of the Union Address

As anticipation builds for President Trump’s State of the Union address tonight, Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) has asked U.S. Capitol Police and Attorney General Jeff Sessions to consider arresting illegal aliens attending the speech.

“Today, Congressman Paul Gosar contacted the U.S. Capitol Police, as well as Attorney General Jeff Sessions, asking they consider checking identification of all attending the State of the Union address and arresting any illegal aliens in attendance,” tweeted the Arizona Republican.

Various Democrat lawmakers are bringing DREAMers as guests to the State of the Union.

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, of California, and more than two dozen Democrats have invited so-called “DREAMers,” whose status has been in jeopardy since the Trump administration announced it would end legal protections that former president Barack Obama established under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

So far, a dozen House members are heeding calls from the progressive base to boycott Trump’s address. But most Democrats will use the event and their guest selections to highlight concerns about immigration, health, gun violence prevention and sexual misconduct. […]

President Trump has invited Evelyn Rodriguez, the mother of a 16 year-old girl beaten to death by MS-13. As reported by The Gateway Pundit‘s Jim Hoft, the murders of Brentwood, New York teenagers Kayla Cuevas and Nisa Mickens in September 2016 shocked the community and galvanized law enforcement.

Cuevas’s body was discovered the following day behind a home near the attack.

Last week, ABC News revealed that at least 24 Democrats are expected to bring illegal aliens as their guests to Trump’s SOTU address, but Gosar says Capitol Police and Sessions should use the opportunity to enforce the Rule of Law.



“A country with no borders, and no enforcement of its laws, is not a country,” Gosar exclusively told Breitbart News. “It is anarchy. It is chaos. Trump was elected to restore order and enforce the law. Obama, by contrast, enjoyed flouting our laws and our constitution.”

“Of all the places where the Rule of Law needs to be enforced, it should be in the hallowed halls of Congress. Any illegal aliens attempting to go through security, under any pretext of invitation or otherwise, should be arrested and deported," said Congressman Gosar.

Gosar’s insistence that Sessions enforce the law at Trump’s SOTU comes after New York Times best-selling author Ann Coulter called on Sessions to “be ready to arrest” Democrats for conspiring with illegal aliens to keep them in the country.



“I’ve also heard they’re planning on inviting illegal aliens,” Coulter told talk radio host Howie Carr. “So Jeff Sessions better be ready to arrest all of them for conspiring to commit a crime, which I believe is a felony under federal law in all 50 states, even if the crime itself is not a felony. I mean, they had to have meetings, they had to make a phone call.”



“These are people who are in the country illegally and anyone conspiring with them to keep them here illegally, to invite them to a State of the Union address, Jeff Sessions should have them all arrested and I mean the congressmen,” Coulter said.



While Democrats are slated to bring illegal aliens to the SOTU address, Trump, in stark contrast, is expected to bring Evelyn Rodriguez to the SOTU address. Evelyn’s 16-year-old daughter, Kayla Cuevas, was beaten and stabbed to death with a friend of hers by MS-13 gang members, a violent street gang from El Salvador that has proliferated due to illegal and mass immigration to the U.S.

Conservative Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) is calling for the arrests of young immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally as children, often called "Dreamers," who attend President Trump's first State of the Union address Tuesday night.



Dozens of Democrats and one centrist GOP lawmaker are bringing such immigrants as their guests to the State of the Union amid the debate in Congress over whether they should be allowed to stay in the country

Gosar said he asked the Capitol Police and Attorney General Jeff Sessions to consider checking the identifications of everyone attending the State of the Union and arrest any immigrants they find in the country illegally.

Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) is not endorsing Gosar's call to arrest and deport the Dreamers in attendance, making it unlikely such a suggestion would go into effect.


"The Speaker clearly does not agree," Ryan spokeswoman AshLee Strong said in response to Gosar's tweets.


Many of the young immigrants who are guests to Tuesday night’s State of the Union are recipients of the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which the Trump administration is rescinding.


Roughly 700,000 qualifying immigrants received temporary work permits through DACA. They are at risk of deportation on a rolling basis as their permits expire over time unless Congress acts on a permanent fix or if Trump were to reinstate the program.

Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R-Fla.), a centrist running for reelection in a district won by Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in 2016, is so far the only GOP lawmaker bringing a DACA recipient as his State of the Union guest.


Democrats have brought Dreamers to joint addresses to Congress in the past. And Gosar isn’t the first Republican to object to their presence in the House chamber.


In 2015, immigration hard-liner Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) called a DACA recipient in attendance as one of President Obama’s State of the Union guests a “deportable.”


Those with current DACA enrollment status reside in the U.S. legally and are not at risk of arrest or deportation if they attend the State of the Union on Tuesday night.


A spokeswoman for the Capitol Police did not immediately respond to request for comment.


Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.), a centrist Republican in support of granting a path to citizenship for Dreamers, blasted Gosar for his actions on Tuesday.

Trump is expected to address immigration at some point in his address Tuesday night. The White House last week unveiled an immigration framework that would grant nearly 2 million immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally as children a path to citizenship, in exchange for $25 billion to build Trump’s promised wall along the Mexican border and new limits on legal immigration.


Trump’s guests do not include any such immigrants who would be granted citizenship under his proposal. Instead, Trump has invited parents of girls killed by the gang MS-13, as well as an Immigration and Customs Enforcement special agent in charge of investigations that have led to arrests of MS-13 members.
