An illegal immigrant is facing federal charges after re-entering the country despite being deported for drunk driving and killing an Alabama man.

Juan Carlos Ramirez-Hernandez, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, was arrested and convicted in 2006 after he killed 25-year-old Geremi Maldonado while driving drunk in Huntsville, Alabama, according to AL.com.

Maldonado, who was in the vehicle with Ramirez-Hernandez, was ejected from the car after it rolled over multiple times. Maldonado eventually died at the scene of the crash.

Ramirez-Hernandez pleaded guilty to manslaughter and after spending two years in prison, was deported back to Mexico in 2008.

In October, Ramirez-Hernandez was arrested for public intoxication in Alabama and upon further processing, police soon realized he was an illegal immigrant who had been deported before.

Ramirez-Hernandez is facing federal charges for re-entering the country after being deported, which can range up to a maximum prison sentence of 10 years behind bars.

Police said they are not yet aware of when or how exactly Ramirez-Hernandez entered into the country again.
