FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (FOX26) — A man was arrested for DUI last month after already serving 5 years for killing an 8-year-old boy in a crash back in 2019.

As we near the five year anniversary of the death of our son, Maverick, it was devastating to be informed that Mr. Singh has once again been arrested for the same crime that killed our precious little boy. Maverick was an incredible 8 year old boy. He was talented athlete, a good student, and could have contributed so much more to the world.

According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, 40-year-old Karmjit Singh was arrested on December 4th for DUI when he was found to be driving with a blood alcohol content of .08.

Singh was first arrested for DUI back in 2016 in Tulare County.

Four years later he was arrested for the fatal 2019 crash where he ran a stop sign at 100mph and crashed into a family's car, killing 8-year-old Maverick Martzen and severely injuring the parents.

At the time of the crash, officers could not charge him with DUI due to his blood alcohol content not being high enough.

He served 5 years in prison before being released.

On December 4th he was arrested again for DUI.

He was released on bond but was placed on hold by the judge during court due to an INS detainer for the expiration of his VISA.

He was arrested by CHP after he was released Tuesday night and detained by ICE.

He was charged with murder and driving with a suspended license and is suspected of driving under the influence when he crashed into the Martzen family.
