An illegal immigrant, suspected in the hit-and-run death of a 5-year-old girl, had a blood-alcohol level more than three times the legal limit, police said.

Investigators said Wilson Alba-Cano admitted he was behind the wheel of the car that struck a pickup at Seventh Avenue and Roeser on Sunday, killing Anabelle Sandoval and injuring her brothers, sisters and father.

Alba-Cano told police he fled the scene because he was afraid of being beaten up, arrested and deported. He said he had paid a coyote $1,500 to get him across the border.
