DES MOINES, Iowa—Police confirmed they are investigating claims of sexual harassment between the Des Moines mother who was shot to death and her alleged killer.

Rossibeth Flores-Rodriguez and her two children, lived in the basement of suspect, Marvin Escobar-Orellana's home. Escobar-Orellana also lived in the town home with his wife and two children.

Flores-Rodriguez had texted family and friends living in Honduras, where she had come from three months prior, that she didn't feel safe in the house.

Wil Melgar of Conexion Latina, a Lantix media outlet, said Flores-Rodriguez messaged her friends saying, "Hey I want to get out of this house because I don't feel safe here."

On Tuesday, she and her two children were shot and killed in the home. Escobar-Orellana appeared in court Thursday. He has been charged with three counts of murder. Court documents say Escobar-Orellana shot Flores-Rodriguez with a hand gun, before shooting her two children 11-year-old Grecia Daniela Alvardo Flores and 5-year-old Ever Jose Mejia Flores.

Escobar-Orellana claimed she killed her two children and he shot her in self defense. Police say they have a witness that says Escobar-Orellana's claim is not true.

Officials say Escobar-Orellana used an alias when returning to the United States after being deported.

Marvin Oswaldo Esquivel-Lopez gave this name to local police. However, Immigration and Customs Enforcement say his real name is Marvin Escobar-Orellana.

ICE says Escobar-Orellana was deported twice and convicted on federal offense under the name Marvin Escobar-Orellana.

"Escobar-Orellana was previously removed (deported) from the United States 2010 and again in 2011. He has a prior federal conviction for illegal entry into the United States in 2010. He is not currently in ICE custody," said Shawn Neudauer, ICE spokesman.

ICE has placed a federal hold on Escobar-Orellana.

If an individual was deported and reenters the United States, they could face up to 20 years in federal prison depending on their criminality according to ICE.
