Of note on the video from the website I provided:

    (1) He talks about volunteers putting together the local Tea Parties, of which his group gives technical assistance.

    (2) He loses the debate, hands down, on the purposes and cause of the Tea Party movement. It is challenging the Tea Parties. However, much of the interview has been cut out.

    (3) This seems to be a well crafted MSNBC attack on Armey, and the Tea Party movement.

Are you inferring national sponsorship of the March on Washington 9/12,

or national sponsorship of the Tea Party movement?.

The Tea Party Express is but one entity going to the March on Washington. They have encouraged the Tea Party movement, certainly, and were at the kick off of the Express, which, in itself, was a Tea Party.

The Tea Party Patriots are but one group represented in the March on Washington.

Just from the website I provided, there are 30 other groups, either represented, or have some form of sponsorship.

FreedomWorks, according to the website, is national sponsor, probably providing the most money, whereas other groups are platinum gold, and bronze.

They also indicate they are partners with other grassroots organizations, and solicit funds, obviously, but also provide registration for the March on Washington, if a group is interested.

"FreedomWorks will be partnering with other like-minded grassroots organizations and local organizers to plan a massive, historic March on Washington on September 12, 2009 at the U.S. Capitol. Please sign up today, and keep checking our website for updates and travel information for the March on Washington."

Here are the March on Washington's event coordinators.

You can thank me later for digging up easily obtained public information.

    http://912dc.org/about/event-coordinators/

    For all to see:

These are the 9-12 March on Washington national co-coordinators:

    Brendan Steinhauser – FreedomWorks.org

    Jenny Beth Martin – TeaPartyPatriots.org

    Darla Dawald – Grassfire.org/Resistnet.com

To set up an appointment with your Congressman and Senators, please contact Andrew Moylan of National Taxpayers Union. Be sure to include your address and zip code so he can help locate your Congressman.

Rick Santelli of CNBC contributed to the start of the movement as the following vid made national news:

Do you think it unusual that the national sponsor of the 9/12 March on Washington, who most likely is providing the most funds as a national sponsor, would be soliciting funds?

I'm sure all other 30 sponsors solicit funds, as well.

I'm sure that Freedom Works would also benefit from sponsorship of the March on Washington 9/12 from increased membership.

    Excellent observation.

That video encouraged me to go to the first "Tea Parties", even before Tea Parties were really a name, on February 27 of this year. I think he just might have coined the phrase, other than those brave individuals a few hundred years ago.

There was only about 50 of us, but we got a lot of people honking their horns, and caused a little commotion.

Santelli talked about a Tea Party on July 4 in Chicago. Don't know if that occurred, but what he might have kicked off is growing exponentially, and may really be beyond any type of control.

Within three months, over a million people came out, on Tax Day (4/15/09), in over 800 cities. Of course, the major networks either didn't cover this, or dismissed the movement. Opposition, ridicule, and denigration of the movement really began around that time. That was seriously evident, and polarizing, to say the least. Cowards, un-American, evil mongers, "silly" are words that the opposition uses. Allegations of FOX sponsorship and involvement, with another newscaster, plus coverage, really started here, as far as I know.

I hadn't heard of a March on Washington 9/12 until after that, though.

In the meantime, July 4th happened locally, regionally, and across the country. Don't have any numbers to share.

I've read the March on Washinton has been planned for six months, thus it might have taken 3 months or so just to get the word out.

The donations being solicited are going toward funding things directly related to the event according to the donations page:

    Invest in 9.12

We are on our way to making history as the largest march on Washington in favor of lower taxes, less government, and more freedom. But we need your help!

There are fundamental things we need to have like more portable bathrooms to accommodate a crowd like we are expecting and they cost $185 per piece. And every foot of barricade that we still need for the march and rally costs $45. We also want to have a giant video screen at the event that will magnify the images of speakers for the entire crowd and further reinforce our rally as a top-tier event, raising its profile in the media. Unfortunately, obtaining a screen like this is very costly. Due to restrictions at the Capitol grounds, it has to be brought in by hand in 10 sections, each one costing $1,000.

Please help us cover some of these costs so that we can have a successful event and prevent the Left from overshadowing and dismissing us!

    $45
Will help us secure a needed foot of barricade for the march and rally Total feet secured: 546
    Total feet needed: 104
    $185
Allows us to obtain another needed portable bathroom Bathrooms obtained: 72
    Bathrooms needed: 28

    FIRST screen bought!
    Sections obtained: 10

    Sections needed: 0

    $1,000
Gets us 1 of the 10 pieces of the SECOND giant video screen Sections obtained: 0
    Sections needed: 10
    Other Amount

I don't see anything unusual in that. I'll have to look around but I"m aware that others going have also solicited donations to help offset expenses.

    Great. Not unusual, then.
