I just called Harry Reid's office requesting a delay in putting S.S. 2237 on the Senate floor for a vote because not many senators have had a chance to fully read the amendment and the American people only became aware of the plan to attach this to the DOD bill on Monday. I said if this is rammed throught the Senate and does get attached to the DOD bill, there will be political hell to pay for rushing this through before people have had a chance to respond.
Reid's staffer said the amend only gives each individual state "the option" to implement the DREAM Act. I told her, respectfully, I didn't believe that she was correct at all with that statement. As proof, I stated that there are currently 10 states thatare willfully violating federal law by ofering in state college tuition to illegal aliens and not to Americn citizens and legal residents. The DREAM Act esentially repeals the earlier federal law that required equal treatment, therefore removing these states from culpability.
Based on confirmations of others: This is the latest update:
OK this what they say we have so far....
OK so far the definite NO's to the Dream Act are:
Bunning
Burr I'm shocked at Burr, but there has been several confirmations!!
Brown
Corker
Cronyn
Chambliss
Martinez (If attached to the DoD)
Mendenez (If attached to the DoD)
McCaskill
Nelson (If attached to the DoD)
Sessions
Vitter
Likely No's
Dole
DeMint's office also told me there was no pledge to vote "no".

The rest won't pledge to vote that way but are saying they are against amnesty. Double talk.
McCaskill's office said they just spoke with her and she will be voting against the HB-1 and 2 visas and "likely" to vote against Dream Act but "that wasn't brought up just now." He just finished speaking with her.
Wish I could "edit" on this thread otherwise I'm posting soo much. I'll leave the list alone until we have pledges of "no" votes.
Another letter everyone is welcome to fax or e-mail if they need something to send. Feel free to use all or partial in any way you see fit. A special thanks to SamLowry for inspiration:

Dear Senator------------,
The Senate’s attempt to sneak amnesty for illegal aliens into the DOD bill is another example of why the American people don’t trust Congress and hold such a low opinion of our elected politicians. The latest assault on rationality is the Nightmare (DREAM) Act amendment (SA 2237).
There are so many reasons why the DREAM Act is a nightmare to everyone but illegal aliens and their supporters; I could take up pages of content in responding. I will try to be brief:
Any illegal alien who can claim that they were here before the age of 16 is put on the citizenship path by simply filling out a little paperwork. There is no age cap on the applicant, so millions and millions will fraudulently apply.
Once the paperwork is filled out, wallah…conditional green card which prevents any checks into their immigration status or deportation proceedings (the terrorists that apply will love this). And, what is especially pleasing to the illegals, once citizenship is achieved in as little as 2 years, they can sponsor their illegal parents and family members and they will be awarded permanent residency, if not citizenship.
Illegals will also receive in-state tuition rates at any public university of their choice, which clearly discriminates against U.S. citizens and law-abiding foreign students who cannot. The illegals will also be eligible for grants and federal student loans, in addition to favorable racial status awarded. This obviously, will displace legal residents and American citizens from colleges and severely reduce the available federal pool of grants and loans. The last time I checked, Senator…going to college was not a “job Americans wont’ do.â€
I just spoke to Brown's office. They were evasive. He said, "I can't speak for the Senator on how he will vote." I challenged him and said, "Your his front office voice for his constituents and you don't know how he will vote? He keeps you in the dark as to how he will vote? Will we can write you a letter. (No that's not good enough I'm a constituent trying to clarify some information) He softened up then knowing they were in trouble. He said he is reviewing the amendment now. Let me know how you feel about it and I'll tell him.
We need to challenge this Senators when they are blocking information. They work for us and if they are keeping their front line people in the dark so they can't communicate to their constituents then we need to call them on it and let them know we aren't happy. This is a new strategy in the Senate offices.
These are the ones PLEDGING to VOTE 'NO' according to Numbers USA
Bunning
Coburn (just added a definite NO)
Corker
Kyle
Inhofe
Isakson just been added to the "NO" pledges
Sessions

Nice work, Gogo...thanks for keeping us updated. I'm working on a mad e-mail blitz to all 100 Senators currently. Will then go to phone calls. If I find anything out, I'll post.
OK I got the Coburn Pledge but since I'm new at Numbers they Senators office needs to call then they will be placed on the Pledge list. So if you call Coburn's office tell them they need to call Numbers and they will put them on the pledge list. They've had two confirmations from constituents but haven't called Numbers.Quote:

It's time we told Congress we're tired of these underhanded tactics as well :x

Gogo,
I have sent our NO list to Numbers and they are working to verify our findings.
Please combine our list and the Numbers list to create one NO list for our uses.

Mulkowski is a lost cause. Her staff member, who sounds just like her, said she hasn't made any commitments on the issue one way or the other. I was POLITE when I said "what do you mean, the vote could be at any time now, and she doesn't know whether or not she is voting for or against it"? Ugh! :x
Ander Crenshaw, hasn't made up his mind yet ! I told her how long does it take to decide if you will help bring down your country . Why dose he have to even consider , she said,' she did't know'.
Great idea - I just hit my totally USELESS senators from PA again. However, I really think Specter is a lost cause.Quote:

Yeah, I faxed this to most Senators.Quote:

OK William. Thanks. Most of our NO list was from yesterday from confirmations made by ALIPACER'S. I got a strong Cobern confirmation today but they hadn't called Numbers. According to Numbers the Senate office must call them to put them on the NO pledge list.Quote:

During consideration of the Department of Defense authorization bill (H.R. 1585) this week, open-borders senators may attempt to attach three proposals that, when taken together, would give amnesty to millions of illegal aliens and dramatically increase the importation of foreign workers at a time 10 million Americans are looking for jobs and can't find employment. The floor vote on the amendment containing the DREAM Act amnesty (SA 2237) may occur as early as Wednesday, September 19.
It would be best if everyone stayed on the same thread so we can stay organized. Follow April's lead.Quote:

Dole, STILL hasn't made up her mind. ( put on hold for several minutes)
Warner- waiting to see if the amendment will make it to the floor (riiiight) THEN he will decide. (put on hold again)
Webb- still evaluating - hasn't issued a statement. He is aware the vote is coming up soon, possibly today.
They all agree DREAM/SKIL have nothing to do with defense spending, but as I was told by the Webb staffer, "It's common practice to place unrelated items in with spending bills." I told him it was an Unconstitutional practice, sneaky and underhanded and beneath the standards of what Americans expect of our lawmakers in Washington.
Sorry I don't have more to report, doing what I can while here at work.

See update on other thread Dole has become a confirmed NO on the Dream Act.
Thanks, I found the other thread. My Dole info was a couple of hours old. I had just spoken with Warner and Webb offices. I'll keep up in the other thread and post if I get anything new.
OK good I was on this thread too then W said to follow April's led so we're over there. Also easier for me to update the list because I can edit easier.
I'm finished my emails for today. Whew. Now I am on my 2nd round of phone calls from a-z. My 1st call to Senator Akaka's office was great. His aide said she was getting an unusually large amount of faxes and phone calls against the Dream Act. The senator hasn't made a committment yet.
Please use the following thread instead.Quote:
