Thread: CELEBRATE: Bush Commutes Sentences of Ramos & Compean!

Friends of ALIPAC,

We are very pleased to announce that news is breaking across America that President George Bush as commuted the sentences of framed Border Patrol agents Ignacio "Nacho" Ramos and Jose Compean!

For those of us that intensely studied this case, it was clear that these men were railroaded and mistreated. The conviction and imprisonment of these men has sent a wave of paralysis throughout our out manned and out-gunned Border Patrol employees.

First, we want to congratulate Ramos and Compean and their families. We are happy to hear that this long fought battle will have a happy ending. Especially since Monica and Ignatio's house was ransacked and booby trapped this past week.

We look forward to the the reunification of these families. We just receive word from Monica, via Rusty Flemming, that the agents will be released on March 20.

Our top thanks goes to Monica Ramos (Ignacio's wife) and Joe Loya (Monica's father) because these two have worked harder than anyone else in the nation to reach out to our movement and fight for justice!

We also want to thank each one of you that took time to contribute to any of the ALIPAC supported fundraisers for these families, to attend rallies and events in support of these families, and to lobby Congress and the President on their behalf.

ALIPAC leaders made the pledge to Monica and Joe that we would not stop fighting until these men were released from prison as free men!

Another special commendation we would like to issue is to the many allied groups, leaders, bloggers, talk radio show hosts, and activist out there that went the extra mile for these families and this cause.

The combined efforts of talk radio show hosts and the bloggers of 'Blogger Row' delivered the lone legislative success of Hold Their Feet To The Fire 2007, when they turned a case of abuse against these families into a Hispanic member of Congress signing the pardon bill we have been supporting.

We are so happy to share this great news.

This also shows that the persistence of American citizens does work, our e-mailing and calling works. So get on the phones and hound the heck out of your local politicians to end illegal immigration. God bless The whole Ramos and Compeon family.

I think this is a great victory for these heroes that were merely doing their jobs protecting the rest of us from the influx of criminals from our southern borders. However, these men are still going to suffer from the stigma of the illegal convictions that have labeled them as felons. This will make it hard for them to find employment and take care of their families and I don't think that we should rest until they are completely freed from this wrong that has been perpetrated by a corrupt prosecutor and quite possibly our governments’ hidden agenda.

Thank GOD they are going to be FREE!!!!!!! I pray that their records will be CLEANED also.

Americans as individuals are not counted much. BUT, when we stand TOGETHER AS ONE...WE ARE POWERFUL!!!!!

I agree we need to stand as one on the enforcement of our immigration laws... but it STILL amazes me how the country accepted two presidential candidates who CHOOSE to IGNORE OUR IMMIGRATION LAWS... and ELECT ONE OF THEM AS PRESIDENT!

Wake up America...while we STILL have a chance to change the outcome!!!!!

Avenger, this is so true, and we now have to help them with that as well.

Where they live right now, is going to be very dangerous for them. If they so wished to move, that felony will follow them and will put a huge burden on their ability to find employment, vote and many other issues, including any future moves (should they ever have to try to rent...most will NOT rent, no matter what with felony convictions).

Wonderful news....imagine the celebration when they are reunited with their families.

Yes, me too! Hope they cover it as well as they did when the agents went to jail. Seen those clips over and over again and now they can trash those.
