Friends of ALIPAC:

After reviewing several news articles and posts on other websites, I want to let you know that groups and websites that are focused on race and groups who are against the war are turning against the Dream Act.

This represents a major problem for Senator Dick Durbin and his bill cosponsors like Hillary Clinton and Obama.

Now they have groups on the left of the political spectrum opposing this legislation.

The pro-amnesty crowd is upset about the Dream Act because they do not approve of the incrementalism involved and they want full-blown Amnesty for illegal aliens, with few strings attached. They want full Amnesty for all illegal aliens immediately.

The Anti-War crowd is upset because they believe that the passage of the Dream Act will extend the war and open the door for the Pentagon to import unlimited numbers of new recruits who are willing to risk their lives in return for the benefits of living in America. Some of them are now saying, Stop the Dream Act! Stop the War!

The racially oriented Latino groups are upset because they feel the Dream Act will force many young Latinos to endanger their lives in the war.

As you know, Mexico and most of the nations to our South refused to join the coalition of troops in Iraq.

For any of our ALIPAC supporters that oppose the war or are Latino and feel this requirement would unfairly target Latinos, please contact as many Democrat Senators as possible to make these points. The Democrat Senators will be very concerned, when they learn that people who are concerned about the war and ethnic sensitivities are also opposed to the Dream Act!

Even if you support the war and dislike the race oriented groups agendas, you might want to call in and make these points on some left leaning talk radio shows like Alan Colmes Show. You might want to visit some of their websites and point out these factors as reasons why they should either oppose the Dream Act or simply not call in support of Dream Act.

Senator Durbin cannot remove the military requirement in this amendment, without killing it all together, because the amendment would no longer be relevant to the defense spending bill and he would lose all hope of further pentagon and Republican support!

With the anti-illegal immigration movement opposing the Dream Act, along with many Veterans that question how loyal these young illegal alien troops would be, Durbin's Dream is in real trouble.

Durbin removed the in-state tuition language from his amendment, while knowing full well that most of these illegal aliens covered by the act would qualify for in-state tuition benefits, once the amnesty provisions were in place.

Another interesting note is that the Dream Act is not a one-time amnesty deal.

This legislation would be open ended and available to illegal aliens entering the US next year and the year after that!

Politicians supporting the Dream Act are now in between a rock and hard place. Most elected officials want to keep as many people happy as possible and this version of the Dream Act is now putting them in a bad position and if they move this bill forward then they will be in trouble with people across the political spectrum!

That is a good point, and one that you might want to point out to many of the US Senate Campaigns that will be running in 2008. This Dream Act is quickly becoming a campaign's Nightmare!

We know that many of you are very tired and have called for days. Please keep pushing hard this week and until the Senate leaves Washington for the weekend!
