The opposition to Mike Huckabee's touchback amnesty plan and endorsement of lone Minuteman Jim Gilchrist by 84 immigration enforcement organizations is taking a toll on the Huckabee campaign's polling numbers while radio ads, phone banks, talk radio shows, and bloggers against illegal immigration spread news of his true stance and immigration record.

"It's a race against time," says William Gheen of ALIPAC. "The more GOP voters know about Huckster's touchback amnesty and his past support for illegal aliens, the more his numbers drop!"

Huckabee's strong lead in Iowa has evaporated now that his campaign is facing scrutiny on many issues, with illegal immigration registering as a top issue with Iowa voters. A week ago, ALIPAC and 84 organizations launched efforts to make Huckabee's record on illegal immigration known.

"You can't win the GOP nomination, if you are wrong on immigration like McCain," says Gheen. "Voters turned to Huckabee after analyzing McCain and Giuliani and found their support for illegal immigration disturbing. We are calling on the GOP voters in Iowa and New Hampshire to deliver a candidate who will give voters a choice against AMNESTY."

Currently, all Democratic candidates support amnesty for illegal aliens, which is unpopular with a super majority of American voters. ALIPAC has identified three GOP campaigns as pro-amnesty... McCain, Giuliani, and Huckabee. While Romney, Paul, Hunter, and Thompson remain on the no-amnesty list at this time, their campaigns face future scrutiny on the illegal immigration issue.

To assure that Iowa voters know about Huckabee's touchback amnesty stance, prior support for amnesty legislation in the Senate (Comprehensive Immigration Reform), and support for Mexican consulates and in-state tuition for illegals in Arkansas, ALIPAC is attempting to contact 43,000 likely GOP voter households by phone, radio ads, talk radio interviews, and hundreds of online activists who are targeting over 300 websites in Iowa to spread the news. Hello, you forgot to mention the Best Candidate for Presidency who I can vouch for! Duncan Hunter, he has been in the fight as long as I twenty years, for those of you who are not from Calif. a liberalized state that bows to The ACLU... that Hunter has maintained his Stance against illegal immigration against such hostile forces in Sacramento and Washington along with his views on Trade and Military, appeals to me more than any of the backbiters, ego driven and lunatics currently at the top.

Focus on exposing Huckabee!!!

If you choose to expose someone's "shamnesty" would it not be wise to give members a different choice? Many will stay with Huckabee or any of the other top shamsters if not lead to a Candidate who has proven time again over many years in the Socialized state of Calif. that he is willing to stand on the principles our forefathers set.

You need to do more than expose someone you believe to be corrupt you must give them an alternative.

A number of immigration organizations are questioning former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee's sudden change of heart when it comes to defending the nation from the huge influx of illegal immigrants.

The GOP presidential candidate is being taken to task for proposing what critics call a "touchback plan" for illegal aliens wanting to remain in the U.S. Numbers USA, a grassroots immigration reform organization, has been rating the presidential candidates on their immigration records. According to spokesman Michael Crowe, Huckabee has received a poor rating based on several positions he took while governor.

However, Huckabee has discovered that voters want enforcement, which prompted the GOP presidential hopeful to propose a nine-point "Secure America Plan" that includes a requirement that illegal immigrants must return to their own country before applying for legal status. "That's a touchback amnesty," explains Crowe, "where [illegals] have to go home for a couple of weeks before they come back. If they go home, they need to get in the back of the [immigration] line."

The Huckabee campaign website says the candidate's Secure America Plan includes no "touchback" provision and, in fact, requires those wishing to reenter the U.S. begin the formal application process anew. Point 3 of the plan proposes to provide all illegal immigrants a 120-day window to register with the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services and leave the country. Those who register and return to their home country will face no penalty if they later apply to immigrate or visit. However, those who do not return home will be, when caught, barred from future reentry for a period of 10 years.

"This is not a 'touchback' provision," says the website. "Those who leave this country and apply to return from their home country would go to the back of the line."

William Gheen of Americans for Legal Immigration (ALIPAC) says the Huckabee touchback plan was rejected by Congress. "We find it particularly offensive because this is the same type of trick that was pushed out of DC when they were fighting for those U.S. Senate amnesty bills disguised as comprehensive immigration reform," argues Gheen. "This is the same technique that we're now seeing inside the Huckabee campaign."

Huckabee's willingness to drag out a touchback plan, argues Gheen, demonstrates the presidential hopeful is not really serious about stemming the tide of illegal immigration.

Ok ALIPAC does not like this proposal but their web site states what they propose but I find it would be harder to enforce their proposal than offering the "touchback" program as an option. Some states are already fineing employers of illegals. This is part of ALIPAC's solution. Just how would we Deport all the illegals and where would we take them to once we got them. I doubt Mexico would be very receptive and try to block the return of their people.
Part of the solution of building the "fence" could be when you find the illegals is to put them to work building the fence. Then offer them the touchback option, just for those that volunteer to go through immigration the correct way, but with one extra stipulation they give up their citizenship of their home country.

The only legal, moral and viable solution to illegal immigration is 'attrition through enforcement'. That's accomplished by simply enforcing the law. It's currently illegal to employ illegal aliens. It's also against the law to provide some state and local services to illegal aliens. Imagine that, by enforcing the law, illegal aliens will be without jobs and their gravy train of benefits they are so adept at accessing. It would be exceedingly hard (impossible, really) to remain here without a viable source of income. They found their way here; they can find it back home. Its called self-deportation. And it works...just look at the droves of illegal aliens leaving Oklahoma and Arizona. Those that don't self deport are ID'ed if they commit crimes and deported. No rocket science is needed to solve the illegal immigration problem. Simple commitment to enforcing laws we already have on the books will work.
