Following the hard lessons of New York Governor Elliot Spitzer's failed attempt to give licenses to illegal aliens and John McCain's close call with political destruction for supporting Comprehensive Immigration Reform Amnesty in 2007, Barack Obama has stepped on a political land mine by stating Americans should be forced to learn to speak Spanish.

YouTube videos showing his speech have gone viral and the new media is quickly distributing his comments, which are opposed by approximately 4 out of 5 Americans according to Rasmussen Report polling from last month, which shows Eighty-three percent (83%) place a higher priority on encouraging immigrants to speak English as their primary language. Just 13% take the opposite view and say it is more important for Americans to learn other languages.

With Jesse Jackson's "nuts" comment and Obamas FISA vote, we will have to work VERY hard to make sure Obama's speak spanish statement is given the national media coverage it so deserves.

This was on Lou Dobbs yesterday and he was highly upset about it....said hundreds of languages were being spoken in the U.S. today so does this mean people have to come here and learn English and Spanish in order to understand people.

He showed pictures of towns in the U.S. that had all Spanish signs and spoke mostly Spanish.

great segment he did on it, and he made a great point.

Why is it that Spanish speaking people are being catered to and allowed to integrate their language into American society but others are not....and if they were, imagine the mess! of course doesn't take much of an imagination since it is happening with Spanish as we speak.

He also had a poll last night. IF I'm not mistaken, it was 96% think English should be our official language.

because we have and are literally being invaded by Hispanics and of course i have nothing against Latinos per se but those who have perpetrated this infamy on Americans. It is my understanding that:

1) 40 % of visas to legal immigrants go to Hispanics
2) 40% of all legal immigrants are Hispanics

WHY? Who is controlling this?

And of course isn't at least 80% of ALL illegal aliens are Hispanics?

How on earth is this ethical, moral, good for America. This is a conspiracy to create a New Latin America, pure and simple!

I was soooo angry when I heard this yesterday that I had to turn off Lou Dobbs! I mean, Americans are stuck with these 2 Amnesty candidates. How sad!

Isn't this exactly what our founding fathers were against? That one group of people coming here in droves would not melt in to the melting pot and not assimilate but would make demands and try to force the country to assimilate to them??? This is exactly what is happening when it comes to hispanics. I think the visas and ability for hispanics to come here put a stop to or dramatically reduced in order for other legal immigrants to have a chance to immigrate here. It's a monopoly by the hispanics, especially from Mexico.

I saw this U Tube video yesterday...can't remember where I first found out about it - might have been on CNN or Fox. I have emailed the Obama campaign and told them how disgusted I feel about being told to FORCE my kids to learn Spanish. I have also sent a comment to U Tube expressing my opinion also. I am beyond being shocked by anything Obama says any more. He is an incompetent traitor to the United States of America.

We all know why the Por-illegal crowd don't want ENGLISH as the official language don't we?

We know if ENGLISH were the official language the illegals would stick out like sore thumbs because everytime they opened their mouths people would look and say, THEY ARE ILLEGAL.

Everytime a police officer pulls someone over that can't speak or understand ENGLISH, the police officer knows, THEY"RE ILLEGAL!

Everytime a EMPLOYER hires someone that can't understand or speak ENGLISH, they know, ITS ANOTHER ILLEGAL.

That is the only reason why these politicians like Obama don't want ENGLISH as the official language of this country beacause it SHOWS US WHO THE ILLEGALS ARE. And they don't want that do they?

They say its good for business, but in reality only if your doing business in a country where the language is the dominant language would it be helpful.

Any idiot kows when people speak the same langage it cuts down on waste, fruad, accidents and court proceedure's and makes AMERICA and BUSINESS IN AMERICA more efficient. I thought we are trying to compete on a global scale? If we could just cut out the double and triple printing of all these different languages that goes along with products, wouldn't that cut cost and make us more competetive?

I guess cutting the cost of printing compared to having cheap illeterate illegal workers doesn't compare.

Speaking of court costs, here in San Diego my MIL was in court for her brother. As they were waiting for his case to be called there was a guy up there who needed an interpreter who was in his 20's. Hos own defense attorney which was provided by US taxpayers called him out for not being able to speak english even though he had gone through our education system since he was in elementary school, yet he still needed a translator. Yet we're supposed to teach our kids spanish? I don't think so.

This would be an awesome election year for all to abandon the 2 party system and vote for a third party candidate, and I have faith that one will emerge before November. I will no longer choose between the lesser of two evils. I suspect many, many others won't do it either.

I'll be watching to see who emerges as a solid contender.

As much as I dislike Obama, I try to find the good in everything so here's my take on his ludicrous Spanish language comment.

First) He did say all immigrants should learn the English language. Let's hold him to it.

Second) As a world traveler, I do wish I knew more of other languages. Even Spanish, but it's not too high on my list given it seems that it will be forced on freedom-loving Americans against their will.

But for all this, I will be the one who decides what my child learns. Not him or anyone else.

And when I travel to other countries, I take the legal path whether I like it or not. I respect the rules and laws of other countries and do not even think of circumventing them.

Unlike many of our neighbors to the south. Which unfortunately has caused a situation that prevents many people from other cultures and countries from coming to this wonderful nation and contributing to our unique lifestyle as many would like to do. Some would even like to take a little home back with them.

I'm doing some talk shows on this topic and man oh man are people pissed! You should hear the callers. Obama has really stepped in it this time.

I don't think he knows what kind of whirlwind he is about to reap!

I hope he keeps it up. It really shows an elitist attitude that he tells the American citizen "SHOULD" do anything. He sounds more like big brother every day.

If he comes back and said, well I meant to say it like this or I meant it would be good. Then I have to ask, "sir when you want to negotiate with terrorists nations who want us annihilated along with Israel, are you going to say to them later, 'well I really meant'."

I saw this this morning on FOX. I really ticked me off!
That speech was held at a high school here in the county were I live. I bet the good people of Powder Springs, GA did not like the statement one bit. Powder Springs at one time was just a little country town and the kids that went to school there were just a bunch of good ole country boys and girls. The school has a endowment left to it by a wealthly man and the school campus became a little nicer than most of the older schools in the county. It looks more like a college campus than a high school. When I heard that his speech was going to be held there, I wondered who was paying for the use of the school.
Does anyone know who would have foot the bill for that? Would the campaign pay the county for the use of that school? And how would one find out?

That little town has seen an increase in hispanics. We lived there for about 2 years and there was a Mexican family that lived across the street. The teenage boys would put their basketball goal at the curb and play in the street. Well, after hours of hearing that basketball bouncing off the street my spouse would go out and ask them to stop.
