[Watch] Obnoxious Arrogance, DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson in Congressional Testimony
[Watch] Obnoxious Arrogance, DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson in Congressional Testimony
Posted on 24 June, 2014 by Rick Wells
Hearings into the child invasion at the southern border brought a glimpse into the true nature of the Secretary of Homeland Security, Jeh Johnson. His façade of a reasonable and thoughtful albeit obstructionist and subversive individual was abandoned in this exchange with Representative Mike Rogers (R-AL).
The question of whether these are exigent circumstances was asked by Rep Rogers in regards to the current escalation in onslaught of illegal alien children being experiences at the border. Exigent circumstances are defined as “Those circumstances that would cause a reasonable person to believe that prompt action was necessary to prevent physical harm to the officers or other persons, the destruction of relevant evidence, the escape of a suspect, or some other consequence improperly frustrating legitimate law enforcement efforts.”
Johnson said he felt that these were exigent circumstances. Rogers questioned him as to whether Obama should issue an executive order in view of the exigent circumstances to deal with the crisis.
Maybe sensing that he was being led somewhere he didn’t want to go, Johnson declined to comment, and then asked of what nature.
Rogers replied to supersede the law, saying “This isn’t the first time the president’s gone around the law when he needs to achieve a goal. I don’t know why he can’t do it with these children.”
Johnson sarcastically responds that “the last time I looked an executive order can’t supersede the law.”
We can be sure if there is a way to get around the law; this regime is aware of it and has indeed looked, as Johnson described it. Rather than using executive orders in this case, they are using selective enforcement or more accurately, non-enforcement to permit the crisis to develop and then capitalizing on a provision within the law that enables them to achieve their goals.
The name sign in front of Johnson, bearing the words “Hon. Johnson” certainly appears to be out of place. Mr. Johnson would be much more appropriate and even that terminology imparts more respect than he deserves.

In congressional hearings into the child invasion at the southern border of the United States, Rep Mike Rogers (R-AL) questions Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson in areas which relate to the ease of defeating the security measures in place.
He asks Johnson the child invasion would be taking place along the Rio Grande in Texas if a fence similar to that in California were in existence. Johnson responds that it’s difficult for him to say and tries to blame the river as creating a more difficult border defense.
Rep Rogers tells Johnson that he’s been there, he knows what he’s talking about. He says “We don’t have a fence down there and if we did we wouldn’t have five-year-old children coming across.”
Rogers asks Johnson “Why aren’t we putting them on a bus like we normally do and sending them back down to Guatemala?” Johnson responds with, “Because the law requires that I turn them over to HHS, sir.”

Rogers replies, “Well the law required obamacare to be kicked in two years ago and that hasn’t stopped the administration before when it wants to do something different.”
He continues, “I think what you need to do is ask the Guatemalan government where they want these kids dropped off when the buses bring them back down there.”
