    1. Should Anchor Babies be granted automatic citizenship?

Should Anchor Babies be granted automatic citizenship?
    Jack Ward

Whenever immigration is discussed, advocates of immigration (legal and illegal) make the claim that immigrants actually aid the US economy. While that claim can be debated, nobody can claim that ‘anchor babies’ provide a boost to the US economy. Anchor babies are babies of immigrants that are born in the US. Based on a misinterpretation of the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution, these babies are granted immediate US citizenship.

Let’s Change U.S. Law On Anchor Babies
Published by The Watchdog June 26th, 2005 in Health care.
Consider the issue of anchor babies and what, if anything, should be done about them. Anchor babies, for those not yet familiar with the term, is the description given to babies of illegal immigrants who are delivered in the United States. These babies, under current interpretation of U.S. law, automatically become U.S. citizens and most qualify immediately for a variety of benefits, including Medicaid. Over time, they can open the door to citizenship to other family members.

    Citizenship by birth
by Clay @ 10:37 am. Filed under National Government, Immigration
One way that illegal aliens are able to stay in this country is by having a baby in the US. These are called “anchor babies” because they give the whole family a legal reason to stay without fear of being deported. This is a problem with both illegal and legal aliens. Immigration law does not allow a legal alien who is more than five months pregnant to come into the country but many lie about how far along they are and then have a child while in the country legally.

GOP-led push to end birthright citizenship brewing in U.S. House

McALLEN — A Republican-led effort in the U.S. House of Representatives seeks to change a constitutional amendment that grants American citizenship to any child born on the nation’s soil.
In an effort to deal with illegal immigration, some congressmen are actively discussing the possibility of banning birthright citizenship, also known as "anchor baby provisions," claiming undocumented women have babies on U.S. soil so their children can gain access to this country’s services and benefits. When those children turn 21, they in turn can petition the federal government for citizenship for their parents and siblings. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1525714/posts

    BORN TO ILLEGAL ALIENS
East Texas Republican Leo Berman has introduced two bills that may become a central battleground in the immigration fight. One bill, HB 29, would impose a fee on any transnational money transfers. Illegal aliens regularly send large aggregate sums home to their families and Rep. Berman wants to tax these transfers to fund services provided for immigration.
Rep. Leo BermanHowever, the more controversial bill, HB 28, would deny state benefits and services to any person born to illegal immigrant parents even though they are by birth American citizens. This bill addresses the concerns of many immigration activists that many immigrants come to the U.S. to have 'anchor' babies that can then benefit from the American welfare programs. This bill seeks to reduce illegal immigration by eliminating the benefit to potential illegal immigrants. A similar bill was proposed in the Texas Legislature in the 80's and ruled unconstitutional because it denied equal protection to American citizens. Still, this is sure to touch of a major battle.

    No legal immigration, no citizenship.

Absolutely "NO" to anchor babies. Why should we reward people for breaking our laws? No need to split families up...send the parents and the children back.
