I'm thankful for the change since I live in Raleigh, but my husband and I have many friends in SC and we are now worried for them. Prayers for all who will be affected by this monster would be much appreciated!
I live about 5 to 8 miles from the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant. Sort of between Shearon Harris Lake and Jordan Lake.

Dear imblest, many are praying for you and all in the vicinity of the hurricane. Let us also pray for the safety of the teams traveling to the area to help after the storm. We have teams in our area ready to go. The insurance adjusters will face possible danger in flood waters, too.

We saw a caravan of line trucks in Maryland getting ready to go in and help when it's over.

I hope they released some of these dams a week ago BEFORE this storm as these lakes are FULL from all the weeks of rain we have had.

Why do they allow these dams to burst and not have ANY thought to start releasing the water at least a week out?

I heard on the news that the big lakes around Raleigh were lowering the water levels because we knew there was going to be a LOT of rain with this storm. I would think other lakes around NC did the same. So many NC hurricanes in the past few decades have dropped so much rain that authorities around here plan ahead to handle flood waters as much as possible. We will still have a ton of flooding because the lakes just can't hold that much water.
