The number of Democrats not attending is now reported to be 43.

But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

That is really terrible, GeorgiaPeach!! Shame on them. I consider it their loss. This is all because of John Lewis, who lied about this being his first inauguration he missed since he's been in Congress. Lewis is a divider, what a pity and bad example for a civil rights "icon" to do because his candidate lost the election. A terrible display by Lewis and the other 42 Democrats, something you'd expect in a third world Banana Republic, not the United States.

At last count, over 50 Democrats have announced they will be skipping President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on Friday, January 20.
The majority of them are from the deep blue state of California.
According to Roll Call, Democrats who are planning to skip Trump’s historic swearing-in ceremony include Reps. John Lewis (D-GA), Steve Cohen (D-TN), Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), Don Beyer (D-VA), Mark Takano (D-CA), Yvette Clarke (D-NY), Ted Liu (D-CA), Raul Grijalva (D-AZ), John Conyers (D-MI), Mark Desaulnier (D-CA), Rep. Nydia Velazquez (D-NY), Kurt Schrader (D-OR), Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), William Lacy Clay (D-MO), Barbara Lee (D-CA), Jos Serrano (D-NY), Judy Chu (D-CA), Luis Gutierrez (D-IL), Jared Huffman (D-CA), Katherine Clark (D-MA), Earl Blumenauer (D-OR), Karen Bass (D-CA), Keith Ellison (D-MI), Adriano Espaillat (D-NY), Mark Pocan (D-WI), Maxine Waters (D-CA), Marcia Fudge (D-OH), Al Green (D-TX), Lucille Roybal-Allard (D-CA), Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ), Anthony Brown (D-MD), Chellie Pingree (D-ME), John Yarmouth (D-KY), Dwight Evans (D-PA), Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), Grace Napolitano (D-CA), Raul Ruiz (D-CA), Adam Smith (D-WA), Darren Sotto (D-FL), Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), G.K. Butterfield (D-NC), Joaquin Castro (D-TX), Tony Cardenas (D-CA), Mike Doyle (D-PA), Carol Shea-Porter (D-NH), Donald M. Payne (D-NJ), Alma Adams (D-N.C.), Brendan F. Boyle (D-PA), Robert A. Brady (D-PA), Frederica Wilson (D-FL), Jerry McNerney (D-CA), and Peter A. DeFazio (D-OR).
Although no Democratic senators have indicated they will be missing the inauguration, CNN has suggested that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has left the door open for those deciding to do so. Schumer said, “I think each person has to make the choice on their own, but I don’t begrudge those who have said they’re boycotting. Each person can make his or her own decision.”
Dozens of Democratic lawmakers announced they would not attend the inauguration after legendary civil rights activist Rep. John Lewis stated that he does not believe Trump is a “legitimate president,” that he is “wrong” for the nation, and that this is the first inauguration at which he will not be present.
However, soon after he made his comment, a report surfaced that Lewis had skipped George W. Bush’s inauguration because he did not believe Bush was the true elected president, thus it would be hypocritical for him to attend.
Trump tweeted, “John Lewis said about my inauguration, ‘It will be the first one that I’ve missed.’ WRONG (or lie)! He boycotted Bush 43 also because he thought it would be hypocritical to attend Bush’s swearing-in….he doesn’t believe Bush is the true elected president.’ Sound familiar!”

New Hampshire Democrat Rep. Carol Shea-Porter noted that instead of attending the inauguration she’ll go to religious services to “pray for all of our leaders and people.” Shea-Porter represents a congressional district that Trump won. In fact, Trump won more votes than Shea-Porter did. Shea-Porter received 162,080 votes in her district, CD-1. Trump received 179,259 in the same district.
Jeanie Forrester, who is running for chair of the New Hampshire Republican Party, sent out a tweet pointing this out:

Forrester, who is running uncontested and has received the backing of Gov. Chris Sununu (R-NH), will face elections on Jan. 28.
In response to the Democrats skipping the inauguration, Rep. Sean Duffy (R-WI) said, “Put your big boy pants on.” He added, “and let’s start working together.”

Nearly 60 Democratic lawmakers now skipping Trump’s inauguration
By Elise Viebeck January 17 at 4:53 PM
A growing group of Democratic lawmakers will boycott President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration Friday to protest what they described as his alarming and divisive policies, foreign interference in his election and his criticism of civil rights icon John Lewis, a congressman from Georgia.
There are now nearly 60 House Democrats — 59, at last count — who have declared that they will not attend the inauguration on Capitol Hill this week. The number rose sharply after Trump tweeted Saturday that Lewis (D) is “all talk, talk, talk” and should “finally focus on the burning and crime infested inner-cities.”
Lewis, who sees Trump’s Nov. 8 win as illegitimate because of Russia’s alleged interference in the election, is best known for leading civil rights protests in the 1960s, including the 1965 march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Ala., during which state troopers brutally attacked the crowd. Lewis will not attend the inauguration, he told NBC News in an interview for Sunday’s “Meet the Press.”

There's a Congressman from Virginia, a Democrat, who says he's not going because Trump worked with Russia to interfere in the election, Trump mocked disabled people, and "we're terrified about what he's going to do with federal employees, we're terrified with what he's going to do to the Affordable Care Act", then Anderson Cooper cut him off and asked "doesn't not supporting the peaceful transition of power weigh on you?" And the guy, I missed his name, says "no not really, I'll be home watching it on television, I just didn't feel like dancing and celebrating this President, but I will attend the State of the Union Address because I'm a member of Congress." Cooper asks about the tickets and he says he has 400 tickets and all of his constituents want them. Now he's saying "everyone in Europe is terrified of what Trump is going to do with the NATO alliance."
So he's part of the scaredy cat crowd who doesn't listen to what Trump actually says only what headline he grabs off some anti-Trump WaPo article. "terrified" .... if he's afraid of hiring freezes when we're $20 trillion in debt or making the UNaffordable Care Act affordable for people, or bringing jobs home, or making rich NATO members pay their bills, then he should resign. He is "terrified" of his own bull crap seems to me which is very unseemly and WIMPY.
So that's what we have, friends, we have at least 59 Democratic WIMPS in the US Congress, a national disgrace. These are not the people who will grab a gun and come save you like the motorist who saved Trooper Andersson. Nope, these are the people who would rubber-neck and drive their Mercedes right on by while you're being shot and beat to death by an illegal alien. It's questionable that they would even call 911 because someone might want their name or be able to trace their cell phone number.
These people disgust me so much, I could PUKE!!!Last edited by Judy; 01-18-2017 at 01:37 AM.
