Here's a link to an article on the topic.
<snip>
Overall, 64 percent of Mexicans returned money they earned in the U.S. to their native country, compared to 71 percent in the first six months of 2006, the bank’s annual survey found.
Remittances totaled $11.5 billion from January to June, compared to $11.42 billion last year. The Central Bank of Mexico has reported remittances from the U.S. totaled $23.1 billion in 2006. The Inter-American bank projected only a .6 percent increase this year.
Remittances to El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras rose by an average of 11 percent in the first half of 2007, with a projected total for the year of $9.95 billion for Central American, up from $9.25 billion in 2006.

That's BILLIONS of dollars. Most of it is probably tax free.

Speaking of remittances, we should TAX every single dollar going out of the country - 20%!!! Mexico is taxing (or robbing) them 35% !!! And we are getting NOTHING!!!

Just for clarity, to JRB: note that the figure provided in response was in the Billions not Millions. The typical estimates I've seen for the last year peg the total at about 40-45 Billion USD annually. ... and still rising.
To the open borders macro-economic globalists (the Robert Pastors' of the world) this occurrence suggests the 'progress' made in reducing the differences in living standards between our two adjacent societies. And this equalizing of income, prosperity, living standards are then supposed to eliminate the many international issues such as the flow of low-skilled 'immigrants' into the US - at least in theory (I want to move to theory, everything works... 'in theory').
The opposing side (eg. me, us, etc) see this as a de facto forced subsidy paid for in US jobs, declining wages, transfer of wealth, etc which the average American has absolutely no input or say in the process.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
