Not exactly. You can stop accepting new applications without terminating the program. I'm not talking about renewals, I'm talking about not accepting applications from people that weren't already in the program. Doing that is not terminating the program.
Whatever, it's all meaningless anyway because Trump has no plans of ever deporting DACA eligible illegals. He'll continue the program in its full capacity until a bill from the U.S. Congress that "shows his heart" appears on his desk for signature."The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" ** Edmund Burke**

And what would be your legal reasoning for that? I ask only because someone will have to explain it in a lawsuit.

Because there are going to be lawsuits filed by colleges and universities where many of these DACA's are enrolled going to school. They collect a lot of money from the DACA students and thus will have standing. I saw the lawyers representing some of these schools interviewed on the news, they've already drawn their suits and are ready to file the minute Trump touches DACA 2012. Their argument is based on Plyler vs Doe US Supreme Court precedent, which is basically a ruling that establishes that children can't be punished for the sins of their parents. I wouldn't want to risk a US Supreme Court ruling on DACA 2012.

IMO, that's a pretty ridiculous reason for not ending DACA! Trump should keep his promise and end DACA now. I say let the lawsuits flow. I also say they will be wasting their time.
The Plyler vs Doe ruling was based solely on a state funded primary and secondary education, not a post-secondary education .... BIG DIFFERENCE. No one in this country is ENTITLED to a post-secondary education."The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" ** Edmund Burke**

The case won't be about what the DACAs are entitled to, it will be about what the colleges and universities who file the suit feel they're entitled to.

DACA was temporary. Dreamers considered their original and renewal fees for DACA the same as a contract. They threatened to sue if DACA was cancelled without returning their money or letting the contract run out. By allowing DACA to continue with new applications and renewals they have the argument that it is no longer temporary and they should be granted citizenship.
Time is of the essence. Not only do we have anchor babies holding office in our government, we have illegal immigrants that have gained citizenship through the DACA program now running for state congress. Their first loyalty is not to America, but to other illegal immigrants. If you want the rest of America to be like California, where everything goes to illegal immigrants first over citizens, then just keep kicking this problem down the road.

Judy, who do you think is paying for a lot of the DACA students college in California? We the taxpayers. The president of our Universitie System is in trouble because she was hiding millions for the benefit of the illegal immigrants. Students from other states tried suing because they did not agree that they had to pay out of state tuition when they were US citizens, while illegal immigrants were granted in state tuition. They were told they could not sue because they did not have standing.
There are a lot of problems with DACA and California students. We haven't had a chance with our liberal government and the 9th Circuit Court. Maybe this issue should go to the Supreme Court and hopefully we could actually get honest representation with our new Attorney General.

Yeah, I know. It's a mess, a travesty beyond the pale, and fixing it is like unraveling a giant hairball with one hand.
