67% of Latino vote enough to buy moratorium on raids

This is from the Latina Lista blog.

Is 67% of the Latino vote enough to buy a moratorium on immigration raids?

The unprecedented turnout of Latino voters for Barack Obama signaled not just a desire for change in the country but a change in how federal immigration policy is adversely impacting Latino communities.

The importance of the Latino vote is now an irrefutable fact. Not because Barack Obama was able to garner 67 percent of the Latino vote versus Sen. McCain’s 31 percent, but because Latinos turned out in record numbers in key battleground states turning the electoral college tide in Obama’s favor.

Analysts agree that without the Latino voters in these must-win states, Obama’s victory would have been questionable. So what happens now?

Since this is politics, the kind of support Latino voters gave the Democratic Party did come with strings attached. The big question is does that payback come in the form of a key Cabinet position going to a Latino/a or can it be satisfied with the Obama Administration addressing in his first 100 days an issue that was among the top three for Latino voters and one that has soured many against the Republican Party — immigration reform?

There’s no denying that it would be “sweetâ€

To add insult to injury - Homeland Security (compliments of Congress and this administration), as a concession to businesses, initiated a new rule.

Under a rule published 11/14/2008, the agency said only Federal Contracts $100,000 or more will be required to use an electronic government system to check the work documents of new hires. Originally, officials had proposed that companies doing $3,000 in federal work must comply.

This new rule significantly scales back its planned crackdown on federal contractors that hire illegal immigrants.

Under this new rule, it should not come as a surprise to learn of a flood of $99,999 Federal Contracts, staffed with illegal aliens.

Even though this rule went into effect at a time when millions of Americans are losing their jobs, there is no incentive to hire American workers. Contracts under $100,000 are no longer held to Federal Employment laws (indirectly), and there is no fear of ICE Raids - they have been given a free pass.

And then Congress wonders why Americans don't trust the government.

This article is simply exhibit A as to how delusional these people really are! This is the mindset we are dealing with her folks! You can bet there will be rioting in the streets if their demands for amnesty are not given into! Obama can thank himself for creating this volitile situation, since his pandering to illegal invaders did not quash their hopes for amnesty! In fact, his message seemed to pour gasoline on the fire by suggesting amnesty was one of his biggest priorties!

Through their ignorance, many illegal invaders and their advocates seem to believe that Obama has the power to make amnesty happen unilaterally. We all know this is simply not the case.

These people were already a powder keg. Obama through his pandering, has litten the fuse! How are these people ( who have no right to be here in the first place) going to react when their amnesty is not granted because of the efforts of the majority of Americans who oppose any sort of amensty, pathway to citizenship, or any other benign, politically correct name you want to give it.

    What then?

Not in my book. In 2004, 65% of the Latino vote went to the Democrats. Why would an increase of 2% indicate a mandate to anyone?

Anyway, regardless of what Obama promised, or what the OBL demands, the reality is we are in deep economic problems. Unemployment is on its way up to at least the Carter administration levels, probably much higher. Payroll taxes and local/state sales and property taxes will decrease. The ability to fund social services such as welfare, food stamps, and medicaid will be strained to support US citizens. It should become apparent to every state government in the union that resources do not exist to support illegal aliens, too. It should also become apparent that there is absolutely no justification for ANY US business to hire illegal aliens when US citizens are suffering much higher levels of employment. Actually, they should have realized all this before now. We should not give our local, state and federal representative any slack at all on these issues. Nor should we cut businesses any slack either.

Don't forget that Prop 202 was rejected by 60% of Arizona voters, including 56% of Latino voters. And a Zogby/Univision poll on the eve of the election found that "54% of Latino voters placed concern about the economy as their top voting priority, while only 11% said that immigration was their number one concern."

Bottom line: There is NO mandate for amnesty or continued immigration lawlessness.

Heres how I see it, lets get real.....the latino vote is 15% of all registered voters.....67% of the 15% of Latino votes is not crap, so stop trying to fool us into believeing these people have so much power over the rest of this country.

Now we need to get out more Americans to vote in 2010 to minimize the illegals that we know are voting in our elections.

ENFORCE OUR IMMIGRATION LAWS....FULL SPEED AHEAD WITH THE RAIDS...ARREST AND DEPORT!

So far in 2008, the immigration policy of the Bush administration has been responsible for the apprehension and deportation of nearly 350,000 people. Government officials like to say that they are only after the criminals but though a small portion of undocumented immigrants really fit a criminal profile, the vast majority are guilty of only returning to reunite with their families after they’ve been previously deported.
I think anchor babies should be deported along with the illegal parents. I know they are kids that had no input into their parents' decision to come here illegally, but the splitting families crap has got to stop.

I agree 100% vortex! Children belong with their parents, regardless of where the children are born. These miscreants think nothing of leaving their foreign born children behind when they sneak into OUR country. They are not coming to make a better life for their kids, they come to make anchor babies and rape our system! GET THEM ALL OUT NOW!!!

80% of America wants illegal aliens deported. I think American citizens needs outweigh the Latino desires.

I remember reading somewhere that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the one.
