Dallas Watts, a 78-year-old veteran from Toledo, Ohio, did not allow weapons in his house while his children were growing up, so he doesn’t own a firearm . But, after being beaten by six juveniles aged 11 to 17 last Saturday in the name of Trayvon Martin, he says he will buy a gun and obtain a permit.
Watts’ story is a bit ironic.

According to the Toledo Blade, the elderly man was on his way home from a convenience store at about 4:45 p.m. on Saturday with not skittles and iced tea, but two bags of pork rinds that he planned to feed his dogs for treats. It was then that he was approached by a group of six boys, some of whom were white and some black.

Watts recounted that one of the youths pointed at him and ordered the others to “take him down,” to which Watts said he replied, “Why me? Remember Trayvon! Remember Trayvon!”

“I meant it as a peaceful way,” Watts said. “What happened to Trayvon, I was not responsible for, I live 1,000 miles away! But they kept saying, ‘Kill him! Kill Him! Kill him!’ because I’m a white man.”

The elderly man’s remark reportedly set the youths into a rage as one punched him in the back of the head knocking him to the ground, at which point he was drop-kicked in the chest. One of the boys then allegedly placed his foot on the back of Watts’ neck as another shouted, “Kill him.”

According to a police report, the boys then began kicking him ruthlessly and repeatedly and shouting, “[Get] that white [man]. This is for Trayvon … Trayvon lives, white [man]. Kill that white [man].”

When a bystander shouted at the boys, they reportedly ran away.

Of the remark about Trayvon Martin, Watts said he was simply trying to reason with the boys before they beat him.
“All I meant by saying ‘remember Trayvon’ is to remember what happened to him, don’t duplicate it here,” Watts told Toledo Blade. “The only reason I mentioned Trayvon, that was my defense, don’t pick on me. I am not your enemy.”

Only three of the juveniles have been charged in relation to the case. The 11-year-old and 17-year-old are charged with robbery and are being held by authorities. According to Fox Toledo, the third was charged with disorderly conduct. The 17-year-old was facing a previous felony assault charge stemming from a shooting that occurred March 18, according to reports. Local police are still investigating the incident.

“You don’t pick somebody’s body up off the sidewalk and let somebody else give him a lick to kick the ribs,” Watts said. “That was malicious intent. That was a hate crime and I want them punished for it!”

Watts, who is battered but expected to make a full recovery, has reportedly contacted a lawyer and is working to file hate charges with the U.S. Attorney General’s office. Toledo detectives on Wednesday, however, said that they do not believe the attack was racially motivated despite Watt’s allegations that the youths repeatedly made verbal references to his being white, according to reports.

A recent article penned by the Southern Poverty Law Center discussing the Trayvon Martin controversy declares, “Walking while black — merely being black — still seems to be a crime in this country.” And, “Black youth are seen as bad kids — ‘combatants,’ in the words of one police chief whose officers routinely mace school children as a means of discipline.”

According to Watts’ account of his ordeal, walking while white—merely being white—was his crime in the eyes of the youths who beat him. And, according to his account, for being white he was viewed as racist. But the police say “case closed” on the possibility of hate being the motivation in the attack.

It has been said by scholars who study race relations that the term “reverse racism” means nothing, as racism is racism.

Perhaps in light of the recent heavy focus on race in the Nation, they should re-examine the term for a new meaning: Being viewed as a racist for simply not belonging to a minority race. Regarding the case of Martin, many people have pondered whether the story would have so captivated—and in some circles, enraged— the Nation if George Zimmerman had been portrayed as a man of white and Hispanic descent rather than simply white in initial media reports.

White, frail, elderly, bald, sporting a long beard—or as one clever commenter to an online story put it: looking nothing like Barack Obama’s could-be son—Watts will likely get little support for his hate crime charge from the same type of people who are so adamantly seeking justice for Martin. Justice may well be blind, but often the people who demand and administer justice in America certainly are not.

I do not claim to have all the answers to this question.

But my best guess based on my experiences is that liberals discriminate when hiring without resistance to their prejudice in many fields such as the media, Hollywood, schools, etc... and they work to assure that their news rooms are mostly ideologically pure.

Most of the news rooms I am very familiar with are either completely stocked with liberals or they have a token conservative or libertarian here or there.

And even if they do have a conservative or a fair minded reporter on their staff stories have to be cleared and edited by their higher ups before ever seeing the light of day.

Liberals are taught since birth that white people are inherently evil and responsible for the worlds ills. Associations with white Americans focus on slavery, the destruction of Indian tribes, perceived prior abuses and subjugation of women, stealing land from Mexicans etc... In fact, I was taught as a young indoctrinated liberal that if one did not practice diligence at all times that white people would group up and start lynching blacks and sticking Jewish people into ovens.

I know now that is not the case and that I had been brainwashed so bad that I was accusatory against those that had vanquished the fascist as being just like them due to similarities of race.

My only escape as a white male was to be subservient and penitent to this false religion of multiculturalism at all times and in all thoughts and deeds to make amends for the perceived abuses of other demographics for my white male imperialist rapist ancestors etc...

Liberals only make up about 20% of American society so for them to grow or make ground politically they have to divide people against what they see as white conservatives that would conserve good things they liked about America that liberals, communists, and socialists and their divided animus sub groups collectively want to change, transfigure, control, or destroy.

So if the story fits their ideology of a white oppressor abusing minority groups, it runs.

If it involves whites being raped, assaulted or slaughtered by minorities the story gets completely censored, modified, or only limited coverage.

Liberals not only write to try to persuade others to their world view but they are also elitists. I used to be one as well before I came to believe in the wisdom of the masses and vox populi vox dei.

Since liberals believe that most whites are inherent racists ready to harm someone at any moment if you don't constantly bombard them with messages about how bad the KKK and Adolf Hitler are, they don't want to run stories about minority attacks on whites because that might stir up those perceived violent tendencies amongst the unwashed masses....

Ignorant masses that need liberal elite leaders to tell them how to think and what to think and how to speak.

So my best guess is that the bias we are seeing is part of the liberals world view and elitist attitude that printing balanced coverage would lead to white oppression against minorities and erode what they perceive as advances in civil rights for minority groups.

The minority is always seen as the victim, even when the perpetrator and white male oppression is a bigger concern to them than a few thousand of Americans killed by minorities each year.

Liberals are brainwashed and indoctrinated people, so to maintain the spell on them their writings and world view have to be very divergent from reality. And thus the art work and writings they create are inverted to reality. Many of them lose their liberal views, like the 78 year old man that was beaten, when reality restores them to a more realist position.

Like with illegal immigration, everyone is free to formulate their own opinions on why it happening.

What we need to unify on is what is happening (regardless of why) and what we need to do to address it.

Regarding your education, I was taught all those things about our history. We all know our American and world history is filled with dark spots. But for whatever reason I did not take it the way you took it, that Whites are the the scorn of the earth. I don't know if that was because the excellent job my teachers did or just the way I was. Or more likely I was not instilled by my parents to have any preconceived negative opinions about the Whites and for that matter, Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, whatever. I took in the facts of slavery, western imperialism objectively and if I, as a naive teenager, EVER felt any negativity toward the White man it would have been toward those who lived centuries ago. But even then the problem was not with the individual, it was with society at the time and no other race was exempt from the power of society to mold most of its people. We as a collective human race have f'd up pretty badly over the course of our existence, it's not just one race of people, and so long as we learn from them and don't repeat them then we're moving in the right direction right?


Anyways, you offer another view about the media that I can accept and consider. Your scenario of an entrenched liberal culture in the news industry is certainly plausible and would make more sense than the "government relaying orders" I suggested that you or others might believe in. Even then, that could possibly be explained by the fact that most in the journalistic community are liberal in their thinking. Possibly they all attended the same universities where that particular way thinking was and still is prevalent. It's like a huge frat party.


Okay so lets say that's true, what would explain the unequal coverage of missing people? Minorities in other discussion boards I visit would point out that that's the case. I don't follow these type of stories but off the top of my head I can recall the Natalee Holloway case and that's pretty much it. Little girls missing I can probably recall a few. We had two here in San Diego last year or 2010. Both happened to be White. And it made national headlines. I would need to keep a tally to see how true that is though. And then they mention the perceived bias in Hollywood toward White actors, directors, what have you. I don't recall a single movie where all or most of the cast was Black so I can probably see how that's true. So my question to you is, why do you think that is? Are these Liberal institutions inherently racist towards not only Whites, but minorities as well? So essentially they hate all people on this planet. Or is the answer a more sensible one as I believe.

At this point the media and administration is aggressively diverting attention away from issues like ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION...Jobs..the price of well EVERYTHING!

The REALLY SAD part is their plan has worked...Can I say to some "look in the mirror"?

Airdale, I have to agree with this. The ones with the agenda to keep people in this nation seperated and angry at each other is the far left. They are a minority and have to keep people seperated and fighting in order to keep power, otherwise they will lose their foothold in government altogether. Look how badly someone who is black and conservative, and speaking out it treated in the media. I find it really refreshing to hear someone who is black speaking how they truly feel and about their love for this nation and its ideals, while others seem offended, and some call them names as though they were "traitors" to their own kind (however I think their own kind are their fellow American citizens not just other black people).

I want to make sure everyone reading this discussion checks this out.

I see....nothing does come up to suggest the same. I typed in black on white hate crimes and the DOJ site comes up: Hate Crime , talking about statistics. They state that 66% were white and only 20% were black..I am not saying they are outright lying, but since we have such a trustworthy Department of Justice these days... (extreme sarcasm) then it is hard for me to believe their numbers and that any sources they got it from was accurate since it seems even our local authorities almost never admit the recent teen black on white assaults were hate crimes (although more often than not witnesses state they heard race mentioned during the assault). Academics try to explain away that a hate crime has to be proven to have been the initial intent for the attacker in order to be prosecuted. So apprently they can read the minds of white criminals who have committed these acts, but not those of other races. Amazing.
