91-year-old beaten, robbed during morning walk

SAN DIEGO — A 91-year-old man was beaten and robbed during his daily morning walk in Kearny Mesa, a San Diego police sergeant said.

The assailant came up from behind the victim, pushed him to the ground and began punching him about 7:45 a.m. on Dellwood Street near Othello Avenue, Sgt. Ray Battrick said.

The robber then grabbed the victim’s wallet from his pants pocket and ran off.

The victim was taken to the hospital with back pain and a cut to his head.

The assailant was described as Latino, 25 to 30 years old, 6 feet tall, bald or with a shaved head, and wearing a light blue polo shirt and jeans with holes in the knees.
