Well, it’s baaaaaaaack. Reader E.M. e-mails about the return of the DREAM Act, which gives illegal alien students special in-state college tuition discounts not available to native-born American students and legal immigrant students:

The DREAM Act, previously S.774, has been introduced as an amendment to H.R. 1585, National Defense Authorization Act (Defense Authorization Bill) as SA 2237, Title XXXIII (National Defense Stockpile), Sec. 3301 (Authorized Uses Of National Defense Stockpile Funds). It is number 254 of 353 proposed amendments.

Who but our corrupt and pandering senators would think of incorporating the DREAM Act into “stockpileâ€

Yes, I think focusing on the beating back the DREAM Act is the next big task (IMHO) - I wonder if W can make this into a (new/revitalized) Focus Campaign?

I go on the Dreamact site and see what the buzz is and they are all claiming victory. Again we are being slapped in the face, as someone who just helped a 18 year old register for college 3 classes my son wanted were filled. The colleges cant take the extra students that have NO allegience to this country.

jjsokay: Hey, I hear you and feel for you. It just isn't right.

I have for a long time, questioned the wisdom of providing a US taxpayer-subsidized education to non-US students. To the surprise of many non US nationals - the true total cost of putting a college student through a degree program is not covered by the tuition of the student alone - it is subsidized a great deal by Fed and State funds too (through ever-increasing reliance on large grants, research grants/contracts, various state contributions, etc).

Then, when many graduate, some go back home and find ways to compete with US-based companies in their fields of study. Then, there are the others that stay here and compete for the same jobs locally. Why should we be subsidizing the displacement of our own students later-to-be workers, while providing a subsidized education to people that often have little allegiance to the US?

I have been calling and e-mailing to stop the Dreamact for 3 weeks and we all need to be making calls. This should NOT be part of any DOD bill.

We will be opening the gates to hell. The Illegals on dreamact openly brag about fake documents to drive and work so they have all learned how to abuse the system well. When they are legalized if this passes they will all be sponsoring their family members within a short period of time. Durbin, Hagel, Schumer, Kennedy and Fienstien are pushing this.
