    ACTION: Oppose Former MALDEF Fed. Court Nominee by Obama!

    ENGLISH FIRST OPPOSES OBAMA FEDERAL COURT NOMINEE - CONTACT YOUR SENATORS TODAY

    Dear xxxx,

    I need your help to prevent an extreme anti-English advocate from becoming a member of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. President Obama announced his intention to nominate Marisa Demeo to be an Associate Judge on The Superior Court of the District of Columbia, in our nation's capital. Since this is a federal court Ms. Demeo must be approved by the Senate before she is appointed to this position.

    Marisa Demeo has clearly demonstrated by her actions that she lies outside the mainstream of American political thought and thus, is not suitable for a position on the federal judiciary.

    Before accepting her current position as magistrate judge in the Superior Court Criminal Division, Marisa Demeo was a long time lawyer and lobbyist for the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF). During her tenure as regional counsel for MALDEF Marisa Demeo consistently trumpeted the radical views of the anti-English multicultural lobby. For example, Ms. Demeo announced her opposition to making English the official language of the United States. Moreover, she supported mandatory in-state tuition for illegal aliens and called for a general amnesty for all illegal's currently residing in the United States. Such views clearly show that Marisa Demeo has an agenda that is truly out of touch with mainstream America.

    Therefore, I am asking you to send an email to your Senators urging them to vote against the nomination of Marisa Demeo to the DC Superior Court.

    Please click here to send a prewritten email to your senators today.

    NumberUSA also has a request that members telephone their Senators opposing DeMeo's nomination. Below is information provided by NumbersUSA about this nominee:

    WHY MAKE THIS CALL?

    As you may know, the U.S. Senate has final say over many of the appointments the president makes for Washington, D.C. -- including the D.C. Superior Court. Unfortunately, President Obama has selected a general counsel of MALDEF (the Mexican American Legal Defense Fund), Marisa DeMeo, to fill a vacant seat on the D.C. Superior Court. It truly is appalling that President Obama has decided to appoint someone who has so little respect for the rule of law and who has been working for years to aid those who have knowingly and wantonly broken our immigration laws to the very influential D.C. Superior Court.

    Please phone your U.S. Senators and urge them to oppose Miss DeMeo's appointment to the D.C. Superior Court. Be sure to mention that she is an open-borders advocate and would rule against enforcing America's fair and just immigration laws. Below, you will find some of Miss DeMeo's more outlandish quotes.

    ~~~
    Her position on amnesty:
    We have workers who are here, who've been invited by our economy and by our business sector, to work here and contribute. And overall the studies show that they're a plus to our economy, and the real question is if we want to make our society more safe, we should actually legalize these workers.
    Describing opponents of amnesty:
    There are certain forces in Congress who are anti-immigrant and not interested in seeing immigrants become full participants in this country.
    Comments regarding Honduras-born Miguel Estrada, an attorney former President George Bush nominated to the U.S. Appeals Court for Washington, D.C.:
    The most difficult situation for an organization like mine is when a president nominates a Latino who does not reflect, resonate or associate with the Latino community," said Marisa Demeo, regional counsel for MALDEF. If the Senate confirms Mr. Estrada, his own personal American dream will come true, but the American dreams of the majority of Hispanics living in this country will come to an end through his future legal decisions.
    On requiring the use of the Mexican MatrÃ*cula Consular card (a Mexican ID card that some states and many local jurisdictions accept as valid ID, even though it does not carry any legal weight in the United States and there have been moves in Congress to outlaw its acceptance by any business or government agency) by illegal aliens in the United States:
    Well, these immigrants are already working in the U.S. They're already living here. So as far as giving them more jobs, they're already working and paying taxes here in the U.S.
