Adelson pours $25M into race, more may come

GOP megadonor Sheldon Adelson has pledged $25 million to an anti-Hillary Clinton super-PAC, according to a new report.

Adelson is considering pumping up to $25 million more into the White House race before Election Day, Fox News said Monday.

Fox News said two senior Republican sources familiar with Adelson’s spending confirmed the casino magnate’s donation to Future 45.Both sources described the contribution as a “massive” influx of money aimed at boosting GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump and down-ballot Republicans just over a week from Nov. 8.

One source added that Adelson is weighing whether he will donate $25 million more before Election Day.

Fox News said Adelson’s money benefits Future 45, a super PAC launched by the Ricketts family in Chicago.

    Reports emerged earlier
this month that Joe Ricketts, founder of TD Ameritrade, donated $1 million to the group.

Sheldon Adelson and his wife Miriam, previously gave $10 million to Future 45, according to campaign finance filings.

Fox News said Adelson’s latest contribution to the group came after Trump visited his Venetian casino and resort in Las Vegas Sunday.

“I’d like to thank the owner of this great hotel, and his incredible wife – she’s an incredible woman – Sheldon Adelson,” Trump said without mentioning the super PAC donation. "Really incredible people and they’ve been so supportive and we appreciate it.”

    Future 45 released an ad
last month calling Clinton a “secretive, paranoid politician” while comparing her with former President Richard Nixon.

“At least Nixon was right about one thing,” the narrator says before showing footage of Nixon. "People have got to know whether their president is a crook.”

Future 45 reportedly began airing anti-Clinton ads in Senate battleground states last month in an effort at keeping the upper chamber in GOP hands.

The Ricketts, meanwhile, initially spent millions trying to keep Trump from the Republican nomination after first backing Gov. Scott Walker (R-Wis.) in the GOP’s presidential primary.
