"So...What Now?"
So…Now what? What's the fallout from the nuclear meltdown that's cast a radiation cloud over a badly burned Republican Party…at least the Party as it's represented in Washington?
I'm gonna make this short, as the impact of the implosion in the nation's Capitol is still being deeply felt and analyzed. And while much is uncertain, while the radioactive fog of political war remains thick and heavy, there are several observations one can make with a high degree of confidence.
First - Team Obama will now move aggressively to get its legislative agenda back on track - a fast track. Get ready for a bullet train, friends, a runaway train of bills on immigration reform, gun control, farm policy, climate change, more stimulus to fund more government-created jobs. With the GOP in DC and beyond now tearing itself apart with bloody infighting, and now being torn apart by conservatives who feel bamboozled and betrayed, the Democrats would appear to be fully in control of that bullet train that'll soon be hauling major legislation.
Another observation - there will be some wicked primary fights among Republicans revving up very soon. You'll see fierce challenges to the likes of McConnell and Boehner and others in the House and Senate who claim to have fought the "good fight", but are seen as having surrendered prematurely, giving the Democrats - especially the Democrat in the White House - everything they wanted, including greater control over the federal budget.
The last observation in this brief post-meltdown report - because of the Left's incredibly effective fear-mongering, fraud peddling and manipulation of the media and the emotional masses, there can be no doubt that the federal leviathan has grown so big that it now controls the country. The reach of the federal government is so broad, its influence on the economy so great, its power over the emotions of the people so persuasive, its ability to silence dissent, even crush opposition so effective, that it presents an existential threat to individual liberty.
For those who recognize this threat, the question of how to respond becomes evermore critical. The decision as to how to fight, intensely personal.
