Military Commissions Will Be Used To Try Some Guantánamo Detainees

NEW YORK – In a major victory for due process and the rule of law, the Obama administration will announce today that the five defendants represented by the John Adams Project who have been charged in connection with the 9/11 attacks will be tried in federal court rather than in the Guantánamo military commissions. However, the administration will also announce that it will continue to use the illegitimate military commissions system to prosecute some Guantánamo detainees, including the defendant accused in the attack on the U.S.S. Cole. The American Civil Liberties Union has been working through the Project, a joint effort with the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL), to provide legal assistance to the five individuals accused of masterminding the 9/11 attacks and other military commissions defendants. The Guantánamo military commissions proceedings have been plagued from the start with legal challenges and international condemnation due to their disregard for basic due process rights.
“The transfer of cases to federal court is a huge victory for restoring due process and the rule of law, as well as repairing America’s international standing, an essential part of ensuring our national security. We can now finally achieve the real and reliable justice that Americans deserve. It would have been an enormous blow to American values if we had tried these defendants in a process riddled with legal problems,â€

No surprise here. ACLU wants to destroy ALL laws in this country. They're an anarchist organization and should be disbanded permanently. They'll probably get us all killed.

The ACLU was founded by a communist and it has consistently used its resources to undermine the US Constitution and American culture. If the ACLU was consistent across the board in defending civil liberties I might think otherwise. However, when has the ACLU ever:
1. Defended the free speech of college students who choose to NOT be politically correct.
2. Defended whites against reverse discrimination
3. Demanded removal of all references to Islam from US public schools
4. Defended US citizens put out of work or denied jobs because of legal or illegal immigration practices
5. Defended the voting rights of all Americans and ensuring against voter fraud by assailing the practices of organizations such as ACORN
6. Demanded the practice of 'Sanctuary Cities' be abandoned where criminal illegal aliens, who should have been imprisoned or deported, are instead allowed to prowl the streets, and deny citizens their lives and property and rights.
7. Defended the rights of infants who survived botched late term abortions
The ACLU in nothing more than a hypocritical advocacy group that uses the concept of civil liberties on a highly selective basis to press a communist agenda. They care no more for civil liberties of the average American than I do for the Communist Manifesto."We have met the enemy, and they is us." - POGO

The ACLU is a terrorist group. Period. Our Constitution is an inconvenience to them.
