Just got this one! Everyone we need to start calling. Looks like Reid is intent on dumping this AGAIN!

YOUR OUTCRY IS DESPERATELY NEEDED THIS MORNING, FRIENDS.

Votes that will determine the outcome on E-Verify are likely to occur late today. That gives you time to make some phone calls to make a difference.

Call Senators through the Switchboard at:
202-224-3121

The reliable news source Congress Daily reports this morning that Senate Majority Leader Reid may be planning to once again block a vote on E-Verify after promising a vote on it just last Friday.

And it quotes Sen. Feinstein as indicating that passage of the E-Verify amendment, or any other, would kill the Omnibus spending bill. That is a ridiculous statement, since the Congress can decide to do whatever it wants to do on spending and in the time-frame it chooses. But Feinstein is apparently so insistent on blocking a long-term extension of E-Verify she is trying to scare fellow Senators from voting their constituents' interests.

Friends, politicians act in outrageous ways when they believe there won't be too much outrage from the public for their having done it. Our army of citizens must ring the phones off the hook this morning to indicate that this continuing behavior in support of illegal aliens and their outlaw employers must stop.

Call 202-224-3121

Reporters Humberto Sanchez and Dan Friedman wrote this morning:

"We will (Tuesday) debate all the amendments, I think there are seven left, a number of those may not be brought to a vote," Reid said.

You must ensure that Amendment 604 gets a vote.

Every one of your own Senators needs a call this morning -- especially the ones on the Republicans on the Appropriations Committee, and all Democrats, because those are the Senators most likely to want to pass the overall Omnibus bill. You must persuade them that a 5-year extension of E-Verify does not in any way endanger their spending bill.

1. Call and tell the staffer that you are outraged that Congress Daily reports that Sen. Reid is backing out on his promise of last Friday for a vote on AMENDMENT 604 (re-authorizing E-Verify for 5 years).

2. If the Senator (who you are callling) votes for cloture before a vote on Amendment 604 on E-Verify, NumbersUSA and the whole nation will grade that vote as a vote for hiring illegal aliens.

3. Whether or not the Senator favors the Omnibus spending bill, he/she should not vote to close off debate until there is a vote on extending E-Verify for 5 years -- which is a non-controversial program that everybody, including Reid and Pres. Obama, says they support.

4. The 6-MONTH extension of E-Verify that already is in the Omnibus is an insult to the 12 million unemployed Americans who need a full show of support that Congress backs opening up illegal-alien jobs for Americans to have. Give the Senate a chance to vote on the 5-YEAR extension that removes any doubts about E-Verify's long-term stability.

5. Nothing about this giant spending bill is so urgent that the Senate should worry about sending it back to the House for a few days to accept a non-controversial change like the 5-year E-Verify commitment. Don't the nation's 12 million unemployed workers deserve that consideration.

6. Always remember to describe E-Verify in terms of opening up jobs for unemployed Americans.

The following Republicans are on the Appropriation Committee and are the most likely to ignore E-Verify in their rush to pass pet spending projects. If they are from your state, they need to hear from you now.

Also, put heavy pressure on all Democratic Senators, nearly all of whom plan to vote for the final Omnibus. You need to help them understand that they can still support the omnibus even if they delay the final vote a couple more days in order to get sufficient backing for E-Verify.

You should see extra information on talking points and phone numbers by using the phone note on your Action Buffet corkboard.

BE PREPARED TO COUNTER THE FOLLOWING LIE FROM STAFFERS:

We continue to hear from many of you that your Senators' staffers are telling you to relax because the Omnibus already has an extension of E-Verify in it. Some even suggested that the extension is 3 years long.

Beware half-truths!

Here is the whole truth that you tell staffers who try to tell you that Sessions Amendment 604 is unnecessary:

1. "Division J of the Omnibus" currently includes an extension of E-Verify ONLY through Sep. 30, 2009 -- in other words, only six months.

2. Amendment 604 extends E-Verify for 5 YEARS!

SEN. REID'S ENDORSEMENT OF E-VERIFY

Senate Majority Leader Reid is the man who has kept E-Verify from getting a vote since last summer.

It may be very important for you on your phone calls to quote what Sen. Reid has been saying in recent letters to his Nevada constituents:

"I strongly believe that every job in our country should go only to those authorized to work in the United States. This is why I strongly support programs like E-Verify that are designed to ensure that employers only hire those who are legally authorized to work in the United States ...

"Our country is facing difficult economic challenges and I am working hard to make sure that we can get Nevadans back to work. ... I support reauthorization of the E-Verify program, as well as immigration reform that is tough on lawbreakers, fair to taxpayers and practical to implement."

For some extra rhetorical ammunition against the past Reid plan of burying every pro-E-Verify effort, take a look at my blog on the home page about Nevada polling and Reid. Keep coming back to our home page through the day as our website staff provide updates on what is happening in the Senate.

YOU MUST CALL NOW TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
