Emergency: House Vote on Undermining E-Verify Reauthorization Planned for Wednesday

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is planning a floor vote tomorrow on legislation that would reauthorize E-Verify for five years with "strings" that could lead to the program's demise sooner than that. Only the mobilization of hundreds of thousands of NumbersUSA members will put a stop to the gutting. In the meantime, the hold Sen. The strings Pelosi is tying around E-Verify would cause the program to self-destruct if Congress at any point in the future fails to provide enough funds for the Department of Homeland Security to fully compensate the Social Security Administration for checking on job applicants.

Appropriators are skilled at hiding language that starves and strangles a program without the public being aware that it is happening. Our allies in Congress are convinced that that is why these strings are being attached by people like Pelosi who have made no secret of their disdain for immigration enforcement.

The best solution for Congress, and for the nation, is to pass an E-Verify reauthorization bill with “no strings,â€

Gogo, other than what Numbers has, I don't have a specific list like this. Maybe Phred has.
