    Alert: Stop Elimination of Funds for Jailing Illegal Aliens!

    From: Californians for Population Stabilization (CAPS)

    Subject: Alert! Obama budget eliminates funds for jailing illegal aliens

    TAKE ACTION

    Alert! OBAMA BUDGET ELIMINATES FUNDS FOR JAILING ILLEGAL ALIENS

    President Obama's proposed budget would abolish a program that reimburses states for the costs of jailing illegal aliens -- even though, as a Senator, he co-sponsored an amendment that would have provided additional funding for the program.

    Eliminating the $400 million of the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAPP) would be one of the largest cuts proposed in the president's budget, yet a 2005 GAO study found local governments receive only 25 percent of their actual costs through the program.

    God Bless California!

    Why don't we drop off all the illegal criminals on the White House lawn and let Obama and the other traitors to the American people pay for them?

    I actually support eliminating the funds. Here's what I wrote on similar thread concerning the issue:

    I say cut it, cut it, cut it!

    Removing the funding will force states to take personal responsibility for their past inactions in dealing with the illegal alien issue. Yep, they will no longer be able to sit back with a smirk and grin as federal government funds (our tax dollars) roll in to support the incarceration of the illegal aliens they helped encourage, enable, protect, and hide with their weak laws and illegal alien friendly policies. Trust me, if the funding ends, attitudes will change and you'll see more of them (state legislators) insist that the borders be secured and that the federal government crackdown on illegals and those that employ them. They'll have no other choice because to do nothing would saddle the states with more debt which will mean more sacrifices for the taxpayers (voters). Those sacrifices will no doubt mean increased taxes in one form or another.

    Yep, removing the funding is a good thing (IMO). Let's wake up the enablers with a little tough love!

    Oh, and I'm sure Obama has an ulterior motive for wanting to remove the funding. However, you can bet his motives have absolutely nothing to do with my reasoning on the issue.

    I agree with cutting off the funding for jailing illegals IF the federal government will pick them up and deport them. Otherwise what are we suppose to do with them?

    Remember, these folks aren't in prison because their illegal. For public safety reasons, they'll still go to jail (prison) because they have committed a crime. They are criminals first and foremost and will be prosecuted as such regardless of their immigration status.

    IMO, cutting the funding will influence all prisons to release illegals who have served their time directly to ICE for deportation. I believe all federal prisons are already doing this. States experiencing a serious budget crunch will not want to release illegals back on the streets because it's a known fact that the majority of criminals eventually end up back in prison.

    We're only hurting ourselves when we subsidize the individual states for holding illegal alien criminals. Stop the funding and the issue will take on another whole perspective for the citizens, legislators, and Govenor. They'll definitely be more supportive of illegal alien deportation and border security when they're forced to absorb the cost brought on by illegal immigration.

    Rep. Blackburn Introduces CLEAR Act

    Updated Friday, May 15, 2009, 10:18 AM

    Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) introduced, H.R. 2406, the Clear Law Enforcement for Criminal Alien Removal (CLEAR) Act of 2009. The bill's key element is in "helping local law enforcement detect, arrest and detain illegal aliens in their communties."

    Another major proponent of the bill would reinstate funding for the incarceration of illegal aliens that was cut from Pres. Barack Obama's FY2010 budget proposal. The State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP) receives $400 million per year. In addition to continuing the funding for SCAAP, the CLEAR Act also would provide the following enhancements to promote sound enforcement of immigration law:

    Recognition of local law enforcement authority to help enforce immigration law;

    Improved information sharing with the federal government;

    Requirements for the federal government to expeditiously remove criminal aliens;

    Increased federal resources for local governments that choose to enforce the law; and

    The CLEAR Act of 2009 will ensure that local governments are not saddled with an unfunded mandate by the federal government when it refuses to enforce the law.

    The CLEAR Act has 19 original cosponsors who will be recognized on the NumbersUSA front page over the upcoming weeks.

    For those of you who do not have House Members sponsoring the bill, there is a fax on your Action Buffet urging them to do so.
