Nov. 30 (Bloomberg) -- Democratic presidential candidate Bill Richardson said he was ``depressed'' and ``disgusted'' to see Republican candidates ``trying to outdo each other on demonizing immigrants'' during this week's debate.

Attacking immigrants, said Richardson, the only Hispanic presidential candidate, ``is not only wrong, it's bad for the economy.'' Richardson spoke during an interview on Bloomberg Television's ``Political Capital with Al Hunt.''

Anti-immigration sentiment was evident during the Nov. 28 Republican debate. Ex-Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney accused former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani of making the city into a ``sanctuary'' for illegal immigrants, while Giuliani said Romney operated a ``sanctuary mansion'' because illegal immigrants worked at his home. Richardson said Senator John McCain of Arizona is the only Republican contender with a balanced policy on the issue.

``It's unrealistic to think we're going to deport 12 million people,'' Richardson said. ``We ought to create a path to legalization.'' As New Mexico governor, Richardson allowed illegal immigrants to earn drivers' licenses and attend public colleges at in-state tuition rates.

Richardson said he would improve border security with more patrols and better technology. He called the idea of a border fence between the U.S. and Mexico ``ridiculous.''

Well if I were half Mexican, I would probably feel the same way Richardson does. More greed.... he's not worried about those in the US he was elected to represent, but rather how many of his relatives he can slip across the border for free income the rest of their lives.

There are illegal aliens of all nationalities in America. All of them have to leave. They are breaking our laws and stealing jobs and taxpayer funded services. We do not have legal open borders and the American people want our borders and ports secure 6 years after 9/11. Even before 9/11 they should of been closed. We were promised they would be after 1986. A nation has a right to defend it's borders from invasion. If we continue to have this, look the other way open border policy, we will have 100 million people breaking into our borders. This could bust our budgets across America and create choas and mayhem!

Richardson should run for office in Mexico!! That IS WHERE HIS HEART IS AND NOT WITH AMERICA.

Rule of law and assimilation! That is what America demands.

The GOP candidates are not trying to 'outdo' each other in demonizing immigrants. They are trying to outdo each other in who can best handle the ILLEGAL immigration problem. Here we go again, no distinction between immigrants and ILLEGALimmigrants!
