Link between driver's licenses and voting?

The following two things have popped up on my radar in the last couple of weeks, and I wonder if there is a link between them:

    1. Recently I received the renewal form from the DMV to renew my California driver's license. Interestingly enough, included in that package was a voter registration packet.

    2. I've noticed the last couple of times at my local voting place that even though I was not found on their voting roster, I was still allowed to vote without even being asked for identification.

This makes me wonder if there is an underlying link between these things... Are politicians are so anxious to give illegals driver's licenses so they can encourage them to vote via the registration forms that are being included with the DMV packets? Especially since it seems so easy to vote without having to show any identification, much less proof of citizenship.

    What do you all think?

    Welcome to Alipac, savecalifornia
You hit the nail right in the head; why do you think that "one bill" Gil Cedillo keeps trying to pass sb-160. You get a driver's license in the state of Calif. & you pretty much are a voter. Like you, we just moved from Torrance to AZ, we were never asked for ID; plus if you register to vote through DMV, they will have your info. at the voting place.

You need to call the election judge, before the election and let him know that the monitors in your precinct are not doing their jobs. They are approved volunteers and can be fined. There are a lot of rules they must follow. Also, call both parties in your area. They have attorneys on staff that will jump all over those people. The league of women voters can also help you find the right people to contact.

In TX, you can register to vote, at the drivers license office. Now you put your driver's license number on your voters registration cards. They didn't back in the day when I registered. So there could be some old bad voters out there. Problem of giving Illegals driver’s licenses.

    Drivers License?

My vehicle was smashed into by a female illegal about 5 years ago in Houston, Texas---she blew through a stop sign, and tagged the right rear fender of my vehicle with her Ford Explorer. When I called law enforcement, she had the nerve to ask for a Spanish speaking cop!

I told her "Carta de Seguridad, por favor", and "Licensia, por favor". Pretending not to understand, she then tried to leave! so I told her "Alto!--No possible--No permite!!--- She played the stupid Mexican, and although asked 5 times, pretended not to understand! She had neither insurance or a driver's license---until her husband showed up with "insurance papers", and his "Drivers License" (his wife had no license), and got the Harris County Precinct 4 Constables to release her!

The next day I called the(illegals') insurance to have them look at my damage---it turns out there is no such policy! When I called the Precinct 4 Constables office, I was told "it seemed to be in order at the time", and "what do you want us to do about it?", and "it's after the fact!"

My insurance company payed for the damage to my vehicle, and sent me a letter 3 months later telling me that they could not subrogate the claim---unable to contact the perpetrators, and if I wanted to pursue my deductible, I was on my own!

So, to make a long story short----no Driver's License needed; Illegals do what they want to---and if caught---disappear! You will hold the bag---I paid for higher insurance premiums for THREE YEARS! If you are worried about ILLEGALS VOTING----DEPORT THEM ALL ASAP - - - NO PROBLEM THEN, IS THERE?

P.S. If I would have pulled that crap in Mexico, I WOULD STILL BE IN JAIL!

    Thomas, those are the facts.

I had a long discussion with someone, not sure what board, on the fact that illegals do not carry insurance. Some may buy with forged documents, pay one month and get a proof of insurance for 6 months or a year.

Also, if they can forge DL, SS etc., - they can surely forge a proof of insurance certificate.

The law should be that the officer has to call the insurance company on the spot and verify that insurance. Insurance companies should have to have people working at all times to do that - or some way of verifying it.

It is hard to get the rest of this country to understand the 'hidden' costs of the illegals.

The fact we are loosing our country is just bone-chilling - but the fact it is bankrupting the working people and they can't see it. It is literally putting the elderly out of their homes. There are an estimated 40 million Americans from working families who cannot afford insurance - yet they are being forced to provide healthcare for illegals.

Yep. An illegal backed up at a red stop sign and hit the front of my car and smashed in my hood. She didn't have a license and the insurance card she had was void. I think it was someone else's car and card. The cop let her go with a ticket. She didn't speak English. She kept saying "Policia, no, por favor, no policia". I just said "Si, policia. Yo necessito llamar policia".
