Police wouldn't help when I pointed out possible illegals

We recently moved to a new town, and I'm in the middle of remodeling our house. I had heard from a neighbor that if I ever wanted to "hire" someone for odd jobs, to head out to 500 W. Walker St. to pick up some workers. I knew he meant Mexicans so this morning I drove out to 500 W. Walker to check. Sure enough, there was a group of about a dozen men lounging on the curb and leaning back against a large garbage drum (placed there just for them I assume, since it was a dead end street and nothing else was around). More men were walking down the dead end street to join them. They all got up as my vehicle approached, but I pulled into a parking lot across the street - you'll never believe it! -i t was the city POLICE STATION!! These men were lounging as brazen as you please right in front of the police station! I sat and watched them for awhile to see if anyone came to hire them - like yard work companies or something.

When no one came by after a few minutes I went into the police station and asked to speak to an officer. I asked a very friendly Officer Gonzales (yes, that was his name) if he knew there was a group of men lounging around outside. He said yes. I asked what they were there for. His face started to close up as he saw the direction the conversation was taking and said "They're waiting to get work". I asked him if that was LEGAL. He face grew grim and he said "YES!". I then asked him if THE MEN were legal. He frowned and looked at me for a second before shrugging and answering "I have no idea." Then he turned away, and I got the idea I'd been dismissed.

So what can I do when the law enforcement is unwilling to do anything about law breakers right outside their front door?! I want to make an appointment with the Chief to ask these questions. I need to go back when Officer Gonzales isn't there. I have a feeling he won't let me by.

Any suggestions or comments?! BTW, this is in Texas.

I'll preface this by stating that we're trying to go back for photo documentation.........

A week or so ago my husband was going from one area to another and stopped at a light. {urban areas in NJ} Looked over and saw a group of, yes, "day laborers" that he knew were ILLEGALs. Anyhoooooo, as he was making a mental note of the situation he noticed a.............

    drum rollllllllllllllllllllll.............

POLICE CAR parked smack dab in front of them, PROTECTING THE GROUP FROM HARRASSMENT!!

Yupper, we here in NJ, are now spending even more TAX $$$ to PROTECT ILLEGALS while they're breaking THE LAW. Don't I feel on top of the world now

If we can get the photo, ALIPAC will be #1 on the list for viewing.

Sounds like some police need to understand what aiding and abetting is out there. I understand that they are doing what they are told, but they can disobey orders if those orders are against the law.

    It's not that easy, JP.

Everyone's walking a fine line between local & state "laws" that have been put into effect. Also, no law enforcement officer can get away with something like that without "backup" within his particular area.

By all means, make your appointment with the chief and see what he has to say. You can point out that aiding illegals is a crime. By ignoring them you are actually aiding them.

I suspect someone on the force is playing "coyote" and a safe place for employers and employees to "rendezvous". Someone on the police force is being paid in some fashion to take this view of our law, which is to break it, and provide protection to the lawbreakers using the power and influence of the police department.

    $$$ are passing hands, IMHO.

What is wrong with this country?!!!! I can't understand it when I try to get it across to some Americans ( about what is happening to our country because of all the illegals) and they look at me, shrug their shoulders, and say, "we can't do anything about it". OOHHHH THAT MAKES ME SOOO MADDDDD!!! I always reply, "no, we can't do anything when people like YOU will NOT stand up and take action like some of us are doing!" Are these people just too lazy or just do not care that our state, possibly all of America, will be broke due to the benefits we provide for these illegals? Maybe they are just blind, who knows? I got called a redneck and a racist this past weekend when I just walked up to several Mexicans buying beer in our local grocery store and boldly asked them, "are you here legally or ILLEGALLY?" They jabbered off some Spanish(which I am sure was cussing me) and then in patched English told me, "you are racist, redneck. we hate white women like you". I just replied, "I hate law breakers and I hope you all get what you deserve". If they were applying for legal citizenship, I think they would have PROUDLY said so! They would not have called me a racist redneck! I say move them all to President Bush's neighborhood and when all hell breaks loose there, let him deal with the illegal immigration issue then! You don't see all the rapes and murders, gangs, and just downright meanness going on at his private ranch like I see here in my neighborhood in NC. This used to be a wonderful place to live, not anymore, thanks to illegal immigration!

Same here, each major day laborer site has AT LEAST 2 SCPD cars present. I even have pictures of them, ill see if I can find them.
