Amnesty is automatic citizenship???
if I didn't misunderstand what GWB said, he's calling 'automatic citizenship' AMNESTY -- amnesty is absolving someone for a criminal offense which is exactly what the Senate bill does. The Senate absolves them of illegal entry, impersonating U.S. citizens and identity theft. In fact, the Senate bill rewards them for stolen SSN by giving them SS benefits on stolen numbers. If that's not 'amnesty' I don't know what is
Amnesty would allow 20-30 million illegals to be in this country LEGALLY and "IF" they want to apply for citizenship they have to go to the end of the line -- if they don't, big deal.
and why would they want to apply for citizenship when they can have all the benefits and privileges of citizenship without the responsibility?
if GWB doesn't realize amnesty and a "path to citizenship" are two entirely different things, we are indeed in trouble
NO legalization for illegals
NO amnesty
NO 'path to citizenship'
NO 'guest worker program'

You understand it perfectly Mamie. Bush is the one who is confused and delusional.

thanks for clarifying that for me.
that is unbelieveable! but what did we expect? Illegal invaders are 'undocumented immigrants' or 'illegal immigrants' and 'second class citizens'"Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it" George Santayana "Deo Vindice"

Perhaps a path to citizenship should require proof that they have never lived in the country illegally.
Those who are guilty will be eventually caught and deported with no possibility of legal return.
It's harsh; it sucks; but it's also just and fair.

You got it Mamie.
Here's the dance they do. Anne Northup is against "amnesty." However, there's a "but"
http://www.northupforcongress.com/issues
Of course, once we effectively and completely close our borders to
illegal immigration, we are still left to deal with the 11 million
people who are here illegally. I do oppose amnesty, but because mass deportation is not plausible, I am open to discussing a path to
citizenship, but only for those who truly want to become Americans. I
feel strongly that potential citizenship would only be possible for
those who: learn the English language; are self-sustaining or
sponsored by an employer, (in order to avoid becoming a dependent of
the state and becoming a financial burden on our hospitals, schools,
and other social services); obey our laws and stay crime free for a
set number of years; pay taxes; pay a penalty for being here
illegally; and “get in the back of the line,” so as not to punish
immigrants who have played by the rules all along.Unemployment is not working. Deport illegal alien workers now! Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

If you keep talking like that, Mamie, they're going to send you to Room 101.

the reason we have an influx of illegals is because immigration laws are not enforced and the border is not secured -- Congress and the President created the problem, now they want to sweep it under the rug so they don't look incompetent and ineffective.
