We need to DEFEAT THIS MAN!

    Hi All:

OK, a bit of a problem here. Sue Kelly who is my congresswoman needs TO GO...but, she cannot be replaced with someone who is EVEN WORSE for working class legal American citizens. In my email this evening, I got the press release copied below...reading it, you can see this man has a ONE TRACK AGENDA, and should not be representing the citizens of New York in any fashion.

Hopefully, the first thing some of us can do is email his organization and tie him down on where he stands on day laborers since they are one of the primary areas addressed in this press release.

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Peeksill, NY, March 20 – Darren Rigger, Democratic candidate for New York’s highly contested 19th congressional district, announced the formation of “Latinos for Rigger” today. Rigger, a Latino of Puerto Rican descent and the first Latino to run for federal office in the lower Hudson Valley, feels the group will be instrumental in his win against Republican incumbent, Sue Kelly.

According to Rigger, the group will help address the growing needs of the Latino community while maintaining focus on the importance of electing a Latino to Congress. “With the growing Latino population come new issues that, up to this point, have never been addressed,” Rigger said. He cited the turmoil surrounding day-laborers in Putnam County.

In the 109th Congress, there are only 24 Latino members serving in the House of Representatives, although Latinos are the largest minority group in the United States. “The statistics are disconcerting at best,” said Rigger. “It is our duty to show young Latinos that their ethnicity is something to be proud of and not an impediment to success.” He continued by saying that strong role-models within the Latino community will help instill this ideal.

Rigger, a longtime advocate for progressive Latino causes, has worked for the Hispanic Education Legal Fund on the Hispanic Voter Project, whose aim was to register and empower Latinos throughout the Hudson Valley region. “The Latino community within the 19th district deserves a member of Congress who will listen to their concerns, work with them and truly represent them,” Rigger said.

The official launch of “Latinos for Rigger” will take place at an event on March 28th in New York City. In attendance will be leaders from the Puerto Rican, Dominican and Mexican communities.

After receiving his degree in International Security and Diplomacy from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, Rigger has spent the last 15 years working with prominent Democrats such as gubernatorial candidate and Attorney General Eliot Spitzer, Rep. Charlie Rangel and President Bill Clinton. Once elected, he will continue his fight for National security and demand accountability from all elected officials.

    My letter to this man.

    Dear Mr. Rigger:

I am one of those people who would become a constituent should your run for Congress be a successful one. I am also no fan of Sue Kelly's, feeling her time in Washington must come to and end in this fall election. In short, I am looking for a change, looking for a candidate to back who shares some of my values, intends to vote for the best interests of the majority of those who he represents, rather than cast votes in favor of various special interest groups, whoever those special interest groups might be. To that end, I would like some HONEST answers from you on some positions.

    1. A Guest Worker Program-as a middle class, hard working American citizen, I know first hand the effects of 15-20 million illegal aliens DEPRESSING lower and middle class wages by over 200 Billion dollars a year. In short, as a landscaper, too often I am faced with one of two unsavory choices in keeping my head above water financially. A) I can hire illegal aliens to do a large amount of the physical labor so that my bids are competitively priced with those that do not have problems with hiring those in our country illegally, or B) I could take jobs that pay me cash, and be cost competitive with my competition by NOT PAYING TAXES on my income...either choice makes me a criminal, either choice makes me no better than those who have broken our laws to be here. I, and some 68 percent of the American Public OPPOSE a guest worker program, and there is a movement afoot to send people to Washington who are going to vote the majorities views on this important national issue. I would like to know in detail your position on a Guest Worker Program.

    2. The largest rate of population growth in America today is illegal aliens giving birth to babies. Again, the majority of Americans favor putting and end to the Anchor Baby practice of granting someone citizenship by mere virtue of their being conveniently born here. Our forebears could not have envisioned 15-20 million illegal aliens breaking our laws to be hear, taking up residence and starting families. This criminal element is well aware that these children under the current laws all but guarantee these illegal immigrants citizenship by virtue of their child's citizenship. What is your position on Anchor Babies, and are you prepared to support legislation that will put and end to this WRONG SIGHTED strategy on the part of our federal government?

    3. I've read Senator Specter's legislation that is due to come out of committee for open debate and a vote on the Senate Floor. Said legislation would not only create a Guest Worker Program, it paves a roadway to AMNESTY and eventual American citizenship, and this is a position that is again most Americans DO NOT WANT. Furthermore, instead of dealing with the large number of illegal aliens here by deporting them, the bill instead will actually further open the floodgates to millions and millions more people, further eroding the middle class of our fine nation. Do you oppose Amnesty, and are you willing to support and/or introduce legislation that will deport those here illegally, and make it a felony to be here illegally, to hire those here illegally, as well as making it a felony to lend them aid?

    4. The majority of Americans favor a wall along all 2200 miles of our Southern Border, and meaning border security that shuts down this flood of illegal's who are stealing our jobs, and our middle class way of life. The straw man argument put up is that they are only taking jobs we do not want...this is simply NOT TRUE...instead, they are bringing a wage scale to many of our trades that most honest , hard working , tax paying lower and middle class Americans cannot compete with unless they slide ever further into poverty, and give up their own American Dream of owning a house and raising a family, sending their children to college. Will you support TRUE BORDER SECURITY along our Southern Border?

    5. Iraq at best is a quagmire, and it could be easily argued that the nation has already slid down the slippery slop into a full blown civil war with our troops basically caught in the middle. What is your position on the war, and what steps would you take to work towards and end line solution that brought our troops home? Please do not duck this question, and do not simply state you'd want us to STAY THE COURSE, as the course is NOT WORKING.

    6. The president's Social Security Fix would basically see those of us in the 30-55 year age bracket take the hit to make the system solvent. My wife and I are both 50, rapidly reaching that age where we will retire. We have paid into the system already for some 34 years of our life. Our retirement strategy to a large degree was built on (not exclusively) the promised monthly check of around $1800. It's FAR TO LATE in the game for us to be forced into a situation of figuring out a new plan, and additionally, we have paid FAR TO MUCH INTO THE SYSTEM to be cheated by our federal government. So, what steps would you put forth to deal with the Social Security crisis, and even more importantly, what steps would you want to implement to force the Federal Government to repay all those IOU's that Bush on far too many occasion's described as worthless?

    7. Many American's including some in Bush's own party believe he broke the law in using the NSA to spy on American citizens. Would you support not only investigations, but impeachment of the President for these and other actions, such as lying to us and cooking the intel that led us into the Wrong War in Iraq?

    8. So far, the Republican efforts to eliminate corruption in Washington, and curtail the powers of the Lobbyist is laughable, and amounts to a band aid being place on a ruptured artery. What legislation would you introduce to seriously limit the lobbyist power, and restore honor and dignity to the United States Congress?

    9. Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant-the spent fuel storage facilities are leaking radioactive wastes into the environment, the buildings are at the beginning stages of failure, and perhaps in a worse case scenario complete failure and wall collapse leading to a catastrophic accident that could potentially kill and/or poison hundreds of thousands of our New York citizens. What steps would you take if elected to DEMAND real accountability from the company, and more importantly the NRC who routinely does nothing more than grant the licensee exclusions from the rules when they cannot abide by them?

I look forward to receiving your honest answers to these important issues that are of a great concern to myself and thousands of other potential constituents in your district.

    Sincerely,
Keep the spirit of a child alive in your heart, and you can still spy the shadow of a unicorn when walking through the woods.

Here we go--another latino official who will look out for latinos rather than the law of the land. It doesn't sound like he will be pushing for assimilation.

before you send that revise part 2. there are a lot of mis-spellings like "hear" instead of "here".

I think im gonna run for congress and send out an email saying "Joe Youngblood's campaign announces the creation of Whites for Joe. Joe is white and therefore no other race matters to him. Joe is an Eagle Scout and has worked for the lowering of the legal drinking age, mostly by providing alcohol to minors."

im not racist.. but I wonder how much attention I would get.

It's amazing. The so called 'Latino Community' wants special treatment (read --to get U.S. services, speak Spanish and not have to assimilate) just because they are Latinos or hispanic.

Oh, but low and behold if you single out Latinos for being illegal Aliens --- then of course your a racist. Then the hypocritical lecture that we are all the same humans with rights for migrants.

But wait, your a Latino, you need to be seperated as a Race that needs special treatment from other Americans (you know, the Americans who are asian, black, white, arab, indian,etc.).

How about the 'Latino community' becoming an American community since after all they are residents of America??

That's just it, the differential treatment or seperation is an indicator of a thieving Invader. Mr. Rigger is an unwelcome Invader doing as much invading as he can.

Since, the majority of illegal Aliens (70%) reside in the 'Latino community' hence THE PROBLEM of rude crying comes from this community who like Mr. Rigger are unwelcome invaders making demands.

For the 2006 election, I am in the camp with this position. It is simple, self-explanatory and easy to implement.

    Dear Republican,

If guest worker amnesty for illegal aliens becomes law I will vote against EVERY republican (at all levels) on the ballot on Election Day 2006

It does not matter if you are a U.S. Senator who voted against guest worker amnesty

It does not matter if you are a U.S. Representative who voted against guest worker amnesty( we remember how you tricked and betrayed us with 245i)

It does not matter if you are a state or local republican

Every republican at every level is expected to stop guest worker amnesty from becoming law......and if you don’t........then

If guest worker amnesty for illegal aliens becomes law I will vote against EVERY republican (at all levels) on the ballot on Election Day 2006

Remember,it is MY vote, not yours!
