INFORMATION ALERT! California's Attempt to Ban E-Verify Fails!

Congratulations! Opposition from activists like you helped kill Sacramento's effort to ban the E-Verify job eligibility system in California. AB 2076 stalled in the Senate after passing the Assembly 43-31 and is dead for this session.

The notorious legislation would have prohibited state agencies and local governments in California from using the federal validation program, one of our most important tools in curbing illegal immigration. In fact, other states have enacted legislation to require the use of E-Verify.

Thanks for your efforts in stopping this bill. It will undoubtedly be reintroduced in some form next year, but for now it is dead.

Other awful legislation did pass in Sacramento. The infamous SB 60, driver's licenses for illegal aliens, and SB 1301, financial aid to illegal alien students, are both on the Governor's desk. Our opponents in the U.S. House Judiciary Committee desperately want to give away 550,000 American jobs!

If it were to pass, H.R. 5882 would bring in 550,000 permanent greencard holders, above the 1 million immigrants already planned! With U.S. unemployment shooting up to a five-year high, this is the very worst time to add more competition to Americans.

But Nancy Pelosi and her allies backed down yesterday before they could get the immigration increase past the Judiciary Committee. They thought it would be easy. Instead, they ran into a buzzsaw.

That's because our army of hundreds of thousands of citizen activists swung into action, swamping the opposition with phone calls and faxes.

By last night it became clear our opponents just couldn't make it happen. So they delayed action till next week, hoping opposition will die down.

Dear Friend,

You would not believe the latest stunt that Corporate America is trying to pull! We just heard that nearly 600,000 Americans lost their jobs last month, and now they are trying to flood our country with 550,000 more foreign workers.

This is not the first time they've tried this. Last month, they attempted to make us trade an increase in foreign worker visas to get E-Verify, and we stopped them. Now they are trying to shove even more foreign workers down our throat, and they aren't even offering us anything in return!

Rep Zoe Lafgren is moving to push H.R. 5882. This add 550,000 more permanent green cards! According to our friends on the Hill, they might be trying to get the groundwork for the bill laid out now, so they can vote for it after the election! They just postponed it in the Judiciary Committee and we don't know when they will reconvene, so we need to act now to nip it in the bud!

As usual they are trying to hide what this bill really does. With unemployment at a five year high, the "immigrants are doing the jobs Americans won't" line is wearing thinner and thinner. Nonetheless, they say that it only applies to skilled workers whose jobs aren't threatened. The truth is that they define skilled as anyone with a few years of experience in any field. This is not just Silicon Valley techs: it's waiters, sales clerks, construction workers and people across the country. And it's not like our high tech workers aren't suffering too!

They also say this is just closing a bureaucratic loophole to clear up the backlog of unused visas. In reality, they are adding up every single green card that wasn't used in the last 18 years, and saying we need to add them to the over one million legal immigrants we let in this year!

Help us stop this bill now! Call up your congressman and demand that they oppose this bill. Tell them that there is no way you will vote for them when they talk about creating jobs while importing foreigners to take our jobs.

Be sure to thank them for their past work on the issue, but ask (why) they would welcome over 550,000 foreign workers to take our jobs when Americans are suffering. Tell them if they do not remove their names from this bill, they have no right to claim to support immigration reform.

I know it is discouraging that as soon as we swat down one of Corporate America's schemes, they come up with another. But remember: we keep swatting them down! Each time they lose, they get more and more desperate, and if we keep it up, we will prevail.

I did some calling and verbal addressing everyone's ears on this issue of 550,000 more visas. These elected official act like it is Halloween candy for them to give away.

If the situation in DC or CA becomes more dire, we will redirect our ALIPACers into those battles.

Till then we focus our people on the campaigns while our allies fight on those fronts.

Thanks vmonkey56. It is cool for California but the human is really an old Ahnold Schwarzenegger muscle man film image. I'll bet he wishes he had some Indian blood right about now. Somebody else created it and it was too good to pass up.

My posting was just FYI stuff and I did use the word "allies" in the title.

Will be giving my rep. Sue Myrick a call and ask her in the most polite language if she has just been exposed too much to whatever toxicity is apparent on Capitol Hill these days.
