Ann Coulter blasts Trump shutdown compromise: ‘We voted for Trump and got Jeb!’

Conservative firebrand Ann Coulter blasted President Trump’s immigration proposal to end a partial government shutdown, suggesting the plan amounted to granting amnesty to undocumented immigrants.

“Trump proposes amnesty," Coulter tweeted. "We voted for Trump and got Jeb!”

Trump proposes amnesty. We voted for Trump and got Jeb!

100 miles of border wall in exchange for amnestying millions of illegals. So if we grant citizenship to a BILLION foreigners, maybe we can finally get a full border wall.

“100 miles of border wall in exchange for amnestying millions of illegals. So if we grant citizenship to a BILLION foreigners, maybe we can finally get a full border wall.”

In exchange for funding for a steel barrier at the border, Trump’s proposal included three years of legislative relief for about 700,000 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program recipients and a three-year extension for about 300,000 refugees covered by Temporary Protected Status. He also proposed increasing funds for drug detection at the border and increasing the number of border agents and immigration judges.

After Trump campaigned heavily on building a border wall during his 2016 presidential run, some of his most far-right supporters have cried foul at any perceived attempt to compromise on immigration. Coulter and other media hosts such as Rush Limbaugh have led the charge to convince the president to stick to his campaign promise.

Coulter told Vice News this week that Trump would be “dead in the water if he doesn't build that wall.”

“It’s a textbook example of what the drive-by media calls compromise,” Limbaugh said on his radio show Wednesday. “Trump gets nothing, and the Democrats get everything, including control of the House.”

The president has proven to be sensitive to critique that he is faltering in negotiations on a border wall. The White House signaled last month that it would approve a Senate-passed spending bill that did not include border wall funds. But Trump declared he would not sign it after facing criticism from conservative allies on Capitol Hill and in the media.

What conservative allies? A bunch of rhetoric spewing know it alls? If they really knew what they were doing they would be working on bureaucratic changes to make border enforcement and removal of aliens easier to do, and not say anything about it, so that the media and the leftwing allies don't pounce on them all the time.

So true! It's like they don't understand our elections process. They attack Trump for 2 years, over one thing or another, then lose control of the US House of Representatives to Open Borders DemoQuacks, when they needed to support Trump, maintain control of the House and elect 9 more Republican Senators to the US Senate. We're the greatest country in the world, why couldn't they do such a simple thing as hold the House and elect 9 more US Senators? Then you could have the wall, deportation force, 500 immigration judges, 1000 immigration prosecutors, no more chain migration, no more visa lottery, 50% less green cards, no more phony asylum, no more stupid catch and release, no more 800,000 deportation back-log in DOJ, and on and on and on.

But no, they wanted to attack Trump and then whine about the outcome. It's so irrational, it's actually hard to watch.

    Sigh.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If Trump had showed an interest in the Wall and protecting the border, before the election, we would not have lost the House. People are through voting for people who stab them in the back, and do nothing about keeping their campaign promises. If you want to blame anyone for loosing the election, blame Trump for not keeping his promises, and blame all those cheering him on, and refusing to hold him accountable.

You make some valid points, especially since the majority of Republicans that lost their seats were amnesty supporters.

I blame the voters who are the people actually responsible for the outcome of the election.

Oh yes, absolutely. Politics isn't just about what you want, it's what you want as well as what you can get. Americans have gotten more in the past 2 years from our government and political system because of Republicans than in any single period in my lifetime, with much more to come, once this eternally stupid shutdown is over. We won't get as much as we could have if Republicans had held on to the House and won more Senate seats. But that's the way the voters chose to bounce the ball.
