    Earned Amnesty means;

    Earned Amnesty means;
    if you can enter this country illegally and work, you can stay and eventually will be given amnesty. You will have to pay a $2,000 fine and learn English, but the reward is you get to stay, work and benefits from the system. You will have 10 years to pay the fine, learn English and pay back taxes. How many of us would be given 10 years to pay back taxes? Your children will be able to receive all the benefits that any other American child receive and more if you are a low wage earner.You will be able to buy a house, car and open a business. Does not sound like you have earned anything but have been rewarded for breaking all of the U.S. immigration laws. I do not think illegals care if they are given amnesty as long as they can remain in the country and work, which is why they come here in the first place. To work and remain in this country is a reward that others do not receive because they have to wait and really starve in their county.

    Amnesty is nothing more than rewarding these criminals who have invaded our country. By doing so they are telling the world America has no laws!

    Does anyone really believe that if amnesty is given, all the illegals would just line up and pay the $2k fine, the $2k in back taxes?
    What a slap in the face!!!
    Any American who didn't pay taxes even for at least 2 or 3 years would have to pay a hell of a lot more than a measly $2,000!!
    The $2k wouldn't even cover IRS penalities and interest of non-filed back taxes.
    What a joke...

    I have to ask this since my wife is a LEGAL immigrant.....WHAT DO WE GET FOR FOLLOWING THE RULES AND DOING IT LEGALLY?

    True, we didn't have to pay a fine, but we did have to shell out thousands in legal fees to the SCIS which were much more than the $10,000 fine. We get no benifits because my wife and I had to show that we could support ourselfs. We have to pay taxes or go to jail. Seems there is very little incentive for abiding by the law and every incentive to break them.

    amnesty is a slap in the face of every middle class tax paying American!

    if we don't even know who is in this country now if our government stands up and says 'amnesty for all' it will be utter chaos... the only thing i know for sure is our government will expect us to pay for their mess.

    Aren't you a patriotic law abiding American citizen? If so, I can't believe you asked that question. Why do you or your wife have to "get" anything for following the laws that every good American citizen or prospective citizen is expected to follow? Unfortunately, many illegal immigrants seem to share your thoughts in wondering what's in it for them. Look around, we currently have 15-20 million illegals in the country that have figured out "what's in it for them" in regards to forcing their way into our society illegally. I submit to you bigtex - that is just wrong.

    Let me ask you this, when the right thing to do is inconvenient, should people just do the wrong thing because it's easier or less expensive? I shutter to think what our country would be like today if our most of our ancestors shared that value.

    i think that's what hurts the most, so many men & women have given so much for this country, now it's up to our generation to step up and we've dropped the ball! but i will say this, i will not just stand here and look at the ball lying in the dirt. i talk about this invasion openly and i call it that. these are not immigrants! they are unwanted criminals (like there is ever a time criminals would be wanted) i call our politicians and i vote. when the need arises i will do more.

    Yes there is truth in what you say. The problem being the shear corruption is so embedded from Washington down to the local level that most but not all politicians don't give a hoot what we American's say or want or contact them on. Just look at the responses some fellow posters have received from these politicians. They use to work for us now they just ignore their employers (us).
    I constantly take part in voting,phone calls emails,petitions, etc. Even participate in peaceful protests if in my area, but many of them could care less that America is going down the drain, what they don't seem to realize due to their greed and lust for power is that they are by not acting the cause of it.

    Bush wants to give amnesty to all these illegals but doesn't care about poor americans. He wants to give illegals ten years to pay a $2000 fine but makes it more difficult for financially struggling families to declare bankruptcy. But it's no surprise.

    They pay a fine for violating our laws. They are sent back to the Mexican border and the mexicans send them home to the country they are from. (mexico should pay for this!)
    Once they are home they apply for a visa. If they are awarded a visa and a backround check has been done they are to be sponsored by a company that wants them here.
    They have the employer that wants them here pay all transportation fees to bring them back. The employer pays all U.S. fees for legal entry including english classes and a class on the American culture and way of Life. If they pass the class the employer pays for everything they are placed on a path for legalization in 10 years.
    I'd like to see how many companies line-up for this plan..
