9/17/13 - On Tuesday, a guest on CNN's The Lead with Jake Tapper who knew the alleged Washington Navy Yard shooter, Aaron Alexis, identified that he had a number of political conversations with the late mass shooter. The guest said that he found Alexis to be "more of a liberal type" and a supporter of President Barack Obama. Tapper quizzed Michael Ritrovato, described as a close acquaintance and co-worker of Alexis', about what could make the mass shooter perform such a violent action. Ritrovato replied that he was not clear as to Alexis' motives, but he did note that Alexis was an avid player of violent videogames.

"Aaron wasn't conservative, like I am," Ritrovato added. "He was more of a liberal type."

"He wasn't happy with the former administration," he continued. "He was more happy with this administration, as far as presidential administrations."

He said that, in spite of their political differences of opinion, Alexis had respect for him and they had a friendly relationship.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Aaron Alexis was so unhappy with his life in America — where he was beset by money woes and felt slighted as a veteran — that he was "ready to move out of the country" last year, a friend said Tuesday.

"He was tired of dealing with the government," said Kristi Suthamtewkal, whose husband owns the Thai Bowl Restaurant in Fort Worth, where Alexis worked in exchange for room and board.
But instead of leaving the U.S., the former Navy reservist relocated from Texas to Virginia, where an IT company called The Experts put him on a government contract at the Washington Navy Yard.
A day after Alexis, 34, gunned down 12 people at the yard, new details emerged of his troubled past — from his preoccupation with 9/11 to recent mental problems that included hearing voices in his head.

Investigators said Tuesday that a preliminary probe has turned up no evidence that Alexis participated in rescue operations at Ground Zero, as his father once told police.

He was, however, employed as a clerical worker at the Borough of Manhattan Community College, in the shadow of the Twin Towers, when they were destroyed on Sept. 11, 2001.

“He talked about 9/11 and where he was and how the buildings had collapsed and he couldn’t believe that...and how he was upset with the terrorists for taking innocent lives," Suthamtewkal said.

It's apparent that Alexis was troubled mentally. What we have is a problem with the mental health system in this country. As you know the majority of the crazed mass killers in the past several years (minus the Muslim Terrorists) were liberal leaning with serious mental issues.

Unfortunately, the progressives are already calling for stricter gun laws as a result of this latest killing spree. Hopefully, someone will recognize that the issue is more about the mental instability and lack of a good behavior health program in this country rather than the gun's ability to kill someone.

It's sad that people like Aaron fall through the cracks of the mental health delivery system and are left to manage their medication or worse, are not treated, to the point they become a danger themselves and to society.
